Thicke and Pharrell were ordered to pay $5.3 million in March 2015 to Marvin Gaye's family after 'Blurred Lines' was found to have copied elements of 'Got To Give It Up'.
Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams have launched an appeal against the landmark court ruling that awarded more than $5 million to the family of Marvin Gaye after it was found that their 2013 smash hit ‘Blurred Lines’ had copied elements of ‘Got To Give It Up’.
Lawyers for Thicke, as well as collaborators Pharrell and rapper TI, filed an opening brief with the ninth circuit court of appeals on Wednesday (August 24th), arguing as their opening statement: “if left to stand, the ‘Blurred Lines’ verdict would chill musical creativity and inhibit the process by which later artists draw inspiration from earlier artists to create new popular music”.

The man is everywhere these days. Look out for "Gust of Wind" in November.
I love Pharrell almost as much as I love that giant mushroom hat and after he produced the biggest hits of 2013 AND 2014, it’s likely that you do too. The multi-talented producer/rapper/musician/songwriter/mogul capped off his UK spree with a tell-all interview with The Independent, which basically covered everything from Robin Thicke to the aforementioned hat. The latter is apparently a a vertiginous version of an old Vivienne Westwood design. After it made its debut at the Grammys in January, it’s definitely earned the title of Hat of the Year.
Pharrell - and his hat - in concert.
Robin Thicke concedes that he wrote almost none of 'Blurred Lines' and that his claims otherwise were down to drugs and alcohol.
Robin Thicke says he was "high and drunk" during every interview he gave in 2013 and concedes that he had almost no hand in writing the smash hit single 'Blurred Lines', despite receiving around 20% of the royalties.
Robin Thicke has almost no hand in writing 'Blurred Lines'
Thicke, who has suffered a monumental fall from grace, has originally claimed he had co-written the song with Pharrell Williams but when testifying under oath as part of a plagiarism lawsuit, Thicke insisted Williams "geniused the whole [song]"

Did the past 12 months foreshadow Robin Thicke and Paula Patton's split?
After twenty years together and nearly nine years of marriage Robin Thicke and his wife Paula Patton haveannounced their separation. For some it might come as a shock considering the pair have been together since they were teenagers, but others will see this one as a long time coming, especially when you considering Robin’s roller coaster year.
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton in happier times
It all started with the release of ‘Burred Lines’ in March 2013, the single propelled Thicke from little known R&B singer to household name. A lot of the song’s attention came from its provocative and suggestive lyrical content, which many objected to, calling it misogynistic. However the other controversy was the song’s explicit video which featured full frontal naked women dancing with the singer. People were quick to wonder whether the singer’s actress wife was comfortable with the raunchy video. However Patton was quick to let everybody know that her husband had her full support, appearing on chat show ‘Chelsea Lately’, Mrs Thicke said the video originally made her a, ’little bit jealous’, but then she ‘wanted to jump his bones.’ She also confessed that it was in fact her who convinced Thicke to release the uncensored version of the video, telling him she liked it ‘better than the clothed version.’

While Michael Jordan’s sports career is behind him, he is entering a whole new stage of life, as the baller and his wife Yvette Prieto have announced that they are expecting their first child. This is according to People, which got the low down straight from Jordan’s reps. 50-year-old Jordan and Prieto, a Cuban American model met in 2008 in Miami, but only tied the knot this year at a Palm Beach ceremony, attended by 500 of Jordan and Prieto’s closest friends and relatives – you know, an intimate affair.
Hundreds attended Jordan and Prieto's wedding ceremony.
But the reception was even more impressive, with 1,500 guests pouring into a nearby golf couse community in Jupiter, where Jordan owns a 38,000-square-foot home. Among the attendees were celebrities like Usher and the now infamous Robin Thicke. They’ve been planning for months and months,” a source told PEOPLE of the couple’s all-out wedding. “He wanted to give Yvette everything she’s ever wanted.”

Miley Cyrus was always going to star in the Monday morning gossip headlines when she was first announced as a performer at the 2013 MTV EMAs. The question was: what will she do? Besides 'twerking' with a dwarf during the award show's opening act - which included a rendition of her hit 'We Can't Stop' - there really wasn't that much to write home about regarding her performances. It was what she did to celebrate winning the Best Video award that won her the headlines.

Did Robin Thicke rip off Marvin Gaye on 'Blurred Lines'?
Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' was easily the biggest song of the year - it will officially go down as one of the biggest selling songs of the year, however, a legal battle about the origins of the pop hit has broken out.
The family of Marvin Gaye's claims in a lawsuit that Thicke's song plagiarizes the late soul star's 1977 track 'Got to Give It Up.' Gaye's children Nona and Frankie said Thicke has a "fixation" on their father's work and clearly ripped his work for Blurred Lines.
In an interview with GQ magazine, shortly after the release of "Blurred Lines", Thicke said: "[Producer] Pharrell [Williams] and I were in the studio and I told him that one of my favourite songs of all time was Marvin Gaye's 'Got to Give It Up'. I was like, 'Damn, we should make something like that, something with that groove'. Then he started playing a little something and we literally wrote the song in about a half hour and recorded it." Hmmm, sounds pretty cut and dry to us.

Hugh and Crystal Hefner celebrated Halloween on Saturday (26th October) by dressing as Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus at the VMAs. Paris Hilton also showed up dressed in an outfit inspired by Cyrus' grey teddy.
Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke inadvertently created a horror story three months before Halloween. Their performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in August has inspired the costumes of Hugh Hefner and his wife Crystal Harris at the Playboy Mansion's Halloween party on Saturday 26th October.
Paris Hilton's costume was inspired by Miley Cyrus' outfit at the MTV VMAs.
Hefner posted two photographs on his Twitter: one a selfie of the couple with Crystal holding a giant foam hand up to the camera; and the other with Crystal bending over in front of her husband. Hefner added the hash tag "twerking". Crystal, despite being a former 'Playmate' and glamour model, dressed more modestly than Cyrus had at the VMAs. She wore a short yellow dress as opposed to Cyrus' decision at the awards in August to wear a flesh coloured bikini. Hefner wore a striped suit with Thicke style sunglasses. It appears the costume was actually a prison outfit which Hefner had adapted with sunglasses, a gold chain and a microphone.
Hollis Jane was a bear dancer during Miley's performance; she speaks out against the humiliation she experienced.
It's a tough industry, show business, let alone if you have a trait or physical characteristic that leaves you out of the running for most parts before you've even auditioned. This is the experience that Hollis Jane and plenty of other 'Little Person' actors working in the industry face as they try to make a name for themselves without agreeing to humiliation or degradation.
Miley Cyrus' MTV VMAs Performance Has Received Yet More Criticism.
Hollis was hired to be a backing dancer in Miley Cyrus' controversial MTV VMAs performance. Dressed as a bear, she danced along to Miley and Robin Thicke singing and has revealed that it was one of the worst experiences of her life. Prompted by a friend's Facebook status commending Cyrus for hiring a little person guitarist in her SNL performance, Jane felt it was time the world knew how she felt.
Robin Thicke talks to Oprah Winfrey about the infamous VMA performance with Miley Cyrus.
Cyrus has rode the momentum of the criticism to create a media frenzy but Thicke has since distanced himself from the infamous performance.
According to Us Weekly, in a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey the ‘Blurred Lines’ singer said, “People ask me if I twerk, and I'm like, Listen, I'm the twerkee. I don't twerk.”
Robin Thicke, in a recent interview, discussed his performance at the MTV VMAs. He stated the performance, with Miley Cyrus, was sexually provocative and controversial in order to gain publicity and get people talking.
Robin Thicke claimed his performance at the MTV Video Music Awards was deliberately controversial and intended to make people talk.

Robin Thicke, in a recent interview, seemed pleased with the controversy created by his and Miley Cyrus' performance at the MTV VMAs in August. If anything the whole incident appears to be a deliberate publicity coup (as if we didn't already know). Thicke is no longer disguising his attention seeking performance, in an interview with Vanity Fair he said "everybody knows who I am now because I let Miley Cyrus twerk in front of me."

Robin Thicke's track banned for its perceived promotion of forced sex.

Robin Thicke's Song Has Been Banned From A University.
R&B singer Thicke's track has been branded as "rapey," with the suggestion that it promotes non-consensual sex in its suggestive lyrics. "I know you want it/I know you need it," sings Thicke, hissing "just wanna get nasty" thereby fuelling the furore around his No.1 hit song.
40 million views for Miley's hammer-licking video.
Miley Cyrus has made her next big move after last month's MTV VMAs twerking performance with Robin Thicke that had the internet chattering and eyebrows lost into hairlines. Such was the backlash to former Disney star Cyrus' dance routine - including Anna Wintour pulling a Vogue Christmas cover - that you'd think Miley would have toned down her raunchy performances.
Miley Receives More Attention Now Than Ever After Her Dramatic Transformation.
Well, perhaps spurred by the sudden spotlight upon her young self, Miley's back with a brand new music video and the follow-up to the summer's bit hitting 'We Can't Stop.' What has really set the gears of the internet gossiping in motion again is the 20 year-old's performance in the video. True, she's not twerking this time but she's still in her underwear (and sometimes out of it) and wagging that ever-present tongue of hers.
Katy Perry’s pop anthem Roar is justifying its name and storming the Billboard chart. The motivational tune, which features lines like: I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire/Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me ROAR” really couldn’t have been anything less than a chart topper. Roar has finally dethroned Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines in the Billboard chart and that’s even before the official video for the single has come out, though Perry has already released a trailer. The song is Perry’s eighth number 1 on the Hot 100 list and it concludes Thicke’s record breaking 12-week reign.
Check out Perry's wild teaser for the Roar video below.
The singer has maintained his spot atop the Billboard album chart for a second week running despite strong pushes from new releases
Luke Bryan sure is having one heck of a 'party' as he celebrates holding on to the number one spot on the Billboard album chart for a second week running with the LP Crash My Party. The country star managed to battle off competition from a number of new releases, but he held strong and kept his place atop the album charts for one more week.
Bryan is at No. 1 for a second week
According to Billboard, the Nielsen SoundScan shows that Bryan's album is around 15,000 copies better off than his nearest competitor; John Mayer's Paradise Valley, a debut album in the album chart. It wasn't just Mayer whose latest release Bryan was fighting off either, as new releases; Three Kings by R&B supergroup TGT, Jimmy Buffett's Songs From St. Somewhere and rapper and Odd Future affiliate Earl Sweatshirt's debut album, Doris. Another debut hip-hop release, Trap Lord by A$AP Ferg, also entered the top ten, coming in a nine.

Miley Cyrus' 2013 MTV VMA performance continues to raise eyebrows even amongst her friends. Kelly Osbourne has requested the 20-year-old singer put her tongue away, meanwhile her father has been supportive stating "I love her unconditionally" and "she's still my little girl."
Not even Miley Cyrus' friends have kept quiet about her performance at the 2013 MTV VMAs on Sunday night (25th August). The 20-year-old appeared on stage singing her summer hit 'We Can't Stop'. After twerking with human sized teddy-bears, the singer stripped down to a nude coloured bikini in order to grind against Robin Thicke. Thicke joined her on stage to sing, with her help, his single 'Blurred Lines'. Throughout Cyrus' performance with 36-year-old Thicke, she acquired a giant foam hand with which she mimed sexually explicit acts with.
Miley Cyrus on the red carpet at the 2013 VMAs.
From the reaction on the faces of the audience - including Will Smith and his family- they were as appalled with Cyrus' performance as we were. Cyrus' friend, Kelly Osbourne, would agree too. Osbourne co-hosted E!'s Fashion Police recap for the VMAs, she said of Cryus' performance "Miley's my friend and I love her, and I have her back no matter what, but as her friend I'm going to tell her: put your f**king tongue in your mouth. I love you, but just put your tongue in your mouth."

Poor Willow and Jaden Smith didn't know where to look when Miley ripped her clothes off during her VMAs twerk-fest.
Miley Cyrus didn't win any awards at Sunday night's MTV music video awards ceremony in Brooklyn and she was just one of loads of performers helping raise the roof at the annual celebration of musical artistry. However, her performance - of her No.1 hit 'We Can't Stop' and 'Blurred Lines' with Robin Thicke - helped secure Miley as the most talked about live act of the night.
Miley's VMAs Performance Provoked Plenty Of Horror.
It wasn't her music per say; by now we're used to her post-Hannah Montana drawl and themes of entitled hedonism. Rather it was her outfits, dancing and facial expression that provoked a roomful of eye-popping and jaw-dropping. She emerged from the chest of a giant bear and without a moment's pause, began to grind and twerk before entering into a rendition of 'We Can't Stop' whilst the 'bear-people' - as seen in the track's eyebrow-raising video - bobbed about whilst being twerked on by Miley.
What was Miley Cyrus thinking when she performed at the VMAs on Sunday (25th August)? Her bizarre and somewhat disturbing performance featured twerking, a nude coloured bikini and Robin Thicke stuffed into a striped suit.
Miley Cyrus performed at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (25th August) and managed to make the entire audience cringe. She appeared on stage performing a remix of her summer song 'We Can't Stop' and Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines'. Thicke joined her on stage with dancers in teddy bear costumes. If the ensemble wasn't bizarre enough, Cyrus' choice of outfit and props raised even the most liberal of eyebrows.

Cyrus initially appeared on stage clad in a bustier with a silver teddy bear face emblazoned on the front. She later stripped down, whilst performing with Thicke, to a strange flesh coloured bikini. She also acquired a giant foam hand which she preceded to use as a prop symbolising male genitalia. Cyrus continued to place herself, using Thicke as a prop this time, in sexually suggestive positions. Thicke appears to have poured himself into a black and white striped suit and, wearing a gold chain, looks like the epitome of sleaze.

Miley announced she was leaving early via Twitter. Was it a case of sore loser-itis or could she not stop her body twerking out of the door?
Miley Cyrus may not have won any MTV Video Awards last night at the dazzling Brookyln ceremony, but she surely provided one of the evening's most talked about performances as she twerked, ground, twerked and then twerked some more.
Miley's Tongue: More Famous Than The Singer.
For those unfamiliar with the term, 'twerking' refers to the dance move craze sweeping clubs and Miley's music videos where one's backside jiggles when one's hips are moved up and down quickly. Miley has virtually trademarked the routine and makes sure everyone knows how proficient she is in the art of the twerk by performing the move at every given opportunity.

Despite his settlement attempt, Thicke can't seem to get away from his copyright troubles.
Robin Thicke is keen to settle the dispute raised by Marvin Gaye’s family in regards to the similarity between Blured Lines and a few Gaye songs. The family in question, however, isn’t up for a settlement. According to Billboard, the Gaye family has rejected a six-figure offer from the singer. It’s important to note here that an official copyright dispute hasn’t been raised yet, but with the rejection of the preemptive settlement, it looks like the heirs of Marvin Gaye’s estate are just biding their time and possibly in the process of building a solid case against Thicke.
Thicke's settlement offer has been refused.
According to sources Frankie Christian Gaye, Marvin Gaye III and Nona Marvisa Gaye accused Thicke's "Blurred Lines" hit single of plagiarizing "Got To Give it Up," written and composed by Marvin Gaye, who died in 1984.While the Gaye family have not taken any official legal action as of yet, Thicke, along with collaborators Pharrell Williams and Clifford Harris Jr. (known under the moniker T.I.) filed a preemptive lawsuit on Aug. 15 in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.
The singer and his 'Blurred Lines' collaborators have taken the Gaye estate and Bridgeport Music to federal court following claims from both parties that he had stolen elements from their songs for his summer hit
Robin Thicke may have enjoyed having THE number one hit of the entire summer with 'Blurred Lines,' but the singer now is apparently locked in a legal battle over that very song following claims that it sounds very similar to two older tracks. Despite professing his love for Marvin Gaye and discussing the influence the singer has had on his career, this hasn't stopped Thicke and his 'Blurred Lines' collaborators T.I. and Pharrell Williams from taking Gaye's family to court following complaints that 'Blurred Lines' sounds strangely similar to Gaye's 'Got To Give It Up.'
Thicke may be a fan of Gaye and Funkadelic, but he also has a reputation to uphold
According to The Hollywod Reporter, who broke the story, the Gaye family had apparently threatened Thicke and co. with legal action over the similarities between his hit song and Marvin's 1977 track. A similar complaint had been made by the company Bridgeport Music, who represent the legendary funk band Funkadelic, with the company claiming that 'Blurred Lines' shares an uncanny resemblance to their track 'Sexy Ways.' Now both the Gaye Estate and Bridgeport Music will both legal action from Thicke, T.I. and Williams as the latter attempt to brush off any claims of plagiarism.
Robin Thicke is suing Marvin Gaye's family!
In order to protect the song - which will probably turn out to be the biggest of the year - Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and Clifford Harris Jr are going to court. A lawsuit filed on Thursday (August 15, 2013) by the trio against Marvin Gaye's family and Bridgeport Music concerned the similarities between 'Blurred Lines' and at least two songs, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Let us explain. The suit claims that the Gaye family is alleging the controversial song "feels" or "sounds" the same as Marvin's 'Got To Give it Up' and that the "Gaye defendants are claiming ownership of an entire genre, as opposed to a specific work."

Miley Cyrus has finally conquered the UK singles chart.
Miley Cyrus has scored her first UK number one single with 'We Can't Stop,' which incidentally is her first Top 10 hit in the country.
The 20-year-old sold 128,000 copies of her new single last week to reach the top spot, ousting Swedish DJ Avicii and his hit track 'Wake Me Up'.
Miley had previously peaked in the UK singles chart at number three with See You Again in 2008 and at 11 in 2009 with The Climb and Party in the USA.

The single has followed up the tremendous success of his 'Blurred Lines' single with the immediate success of his new album
Robin Thicke is having one heck of a summer so far, seeing his single 'Blurred Lines' climb to the top of just about every singles chart across the globe. With the release of his new album, also titled Blurred Lines, the singer has continued his run of blurry success by landing straight at the number one spot in the Billboard Album Charts, a first for the R&B star in his more-than-a-decade-long career.
Thicke is experiencing the most successful period of his career
As reported by Billboard, Thicke has scored his first number one album at the sixth time of asking, shifting 177,000 copies since it was released last week (30 July). As expected, this success has also landed Thicke with his best week of album sales in his career, with his closest equivalent coming when 2008's Something Else managed 137,000 sales, landing it at the No. 3 spot. Interestingly enough, 2013 has proved to be the year of the comeback as Blurred Lines has become the sixth album to reach No. 1 more than a decade after the artist's debut album was released. Prior to him, Black Sabbath, Queens Of The Stone Age, Daft Punk, Gary Allan and Chris Tomlin all scored number ones with their new releases.
It's probably the best version of the song so far.
Love it or hate it, Blurred Lines is definitely the catchiest summer tune that’s come out in a while – and yet Fallon managed to make it catchier. Robin Thicke is the just the latest artist, whose music has received the Fallon treatment. The Fallon treatment in this case being a cover by Jimmy Fallon and the Roots, using kiddie instruments.
This video exists. Discuss.
Last year it was Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe (we may or may not still hum that one in private), but seeing grown men play metal blocks, metal spoons, a tiny xylophone and… some sort of musical banana thing really never gets old. Sidenote: the name of that toy is still a mystery, so let’s go with “shaky banana” for the time being. Oh and Black Thought rapping into a colorful maraca? Priceless.
Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' is finally out despite having lyrics branded as "rapey."
Though the title track from Robin Thicke's latest album Blurred Lines was disparaged by critics for seemingly promoting sexual violence with its worrysome lyrics, the album was released today in the USA and is expected to hit No.1 as quickly as it did upon its 15th July release in the UK. The lead single from the album, 'Blurred Lines', which featured rapper T.I. and Pharrell Williams was released in March but ignited the fury of anti-sexual violence campaigners when the music video debuted.
Robin Thicke: Negative Press Could Have Increased The Notoriety Of His Music & Boosted Sales.
The video depicts Thicke and the accompanying rap duo surrounded by scantily clad women who strut around waiting to be pawed at by the suited men. Thicke hit back at those who criticised him, insisting he was a man of faithfulness and respect towards women, having been with his now-wife Paula Patton since their high school days. However, branded as "rapey", the song sickened many who saw it as exploitative and objectifying women but the single, perhaps boosted by the swirling negative press, hit and held the top spot on the singles chart in 21 countries.
Robin Thicke could feature prominently on both the albums and singles charts by next week.
The sixth album from R&B singer Robin Thicke hits shelves today, though...it's kind of irrelevant, given all anyone cares about is the single, Blurred Lines, and its unrated video.
Could it possibly provide fans with anything more than the pop-tastic Billboard No.1 hit that will comfortably become the biggest selling single of the year?
Well, it turns out the album is pretty good, too.

Barackdubs makes a lothario out of the 42nd president of America.
Ok, well it's not really Bill Clinton covering Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' but presidential speech mixtape maker Barackdubs has done some clever editing, watched hours of Clinton footage and come up with a pretty neat video that seems to show the USA's 42nd president reciting the sordid lyrics of the R&B pop star's hit song.

Wake Me Up sold nearly 267,000 copies in its first week on sale, which trumps Blurred Lines by about 76k – the biggest single week since The Justice Collective's He Ain't Heavy topped 2012's Christmas chart with nearly 267,000 sold.
The MTV Video Music Awards have been announced, with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Justin Timberlake sharing six nods.
The nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards 2013 have been announced, with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Justin Timberlake leading the field. Armed with their videos for 'Can't Hold Us' and 'Thrift Shop,' the hip-hop duo will square off against JT at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on August 25, 2013.
Both acts received six nominations, with Timberlake getting nods for his 'Suit and Tie' and 'Mirrors' promos. Elsewhere, Bruno Mars appears to have every chance of taking home the prize of 'Video of the Year' with 'Locked out of Heaven,' though Robin Thicke's controversial clip for 'Blurred Lines' and Taylor Swift's 'I Knew You Were Trouble' will also be popular.

Incredibly, Jay-Z has landed his first ever UK number one album, with Magna Carta Holy Grail storming the chart and holding off Mumford & Sons and Rod Stewart. The rapper's previous highest-charting album was the 2011 collaborate effort with Kanye West, Watch the Throne, which entered at No.3.
Holy Grail managed to hold off Mumford & Sons' Babel despite a surge in sales following the group's triumphant headlining show at the Glastonbury Festival. Jay-Z also comfortably outsold Rod Stewart's number-one album Time. Passenger took the third spot with All The Little Light, with Canadian crooner Michael Buble dropped two places to No.4 with To Be Loved.
Jay-Z has been performing in the UK this weekend, headlining the second night of the Wireless music festival at the Queen Elizabeth Park on the former Olympics site. "I feel the love tonight," Jay-Z, 43, told the crowd, "You've been an incredible audience tonight." The rapper - still one of the biggest hip-hop acts in the world - was joined by Timberlake during the encore for a rendition of Holy Grail.

Justin Timberlake has been reportedly issued with a legal warning by anti-sexual violence charity Take Back The Night who say the singer used their name without permission.
Timberlake debuted new track 'Take Back The Night' at London's Wireless Festival during his Friday headline slot, to great excitement from fans but one organisation apparently is not impressed with the 'Sexyback' singer's choice of track name. Take Back The Night, an anti-rape charity, are "shocked" to learn that Timberlake chose the name of their organisation for his new song which features overtly sexual lyrics. "Tonight the night, come on surrender/ I won't lead your love astray, astray, yeah/ Your love's a weapon/ Give your body some direction/ That's my aim," sings Timberlake who clearly graduated from the same school of persuasive courtship as 'Blurred Lines' singer Robin Thicke.
Justin Timberlake Is In A Spot Of Trouble With A Charity Whose Name He Used Without Permission.
Essentially, it's a typical Timberlake track, laced with whistles and a horn section and those distinctive falsetto vocals, i.e. it's bound to be a mega hit. So it's no wonder really that JT's ruffled a few feathers over the identity of the titling phrase; the charity are perturbed to say the least, with Take Back the Night Foundation Executive Director Katherine Koestner explaining to Radar Online: "We have some big concerns. For example, all of a sudden on Wikipedia, Take Back the Night has a different definition. That's not been helpful." Turning scrutiny towards the song's sexually-themed lyrics, Koestner adds "The lyrics are definitely very sexual and not at all clearly anti-sexual violence. 'Use me,' for example, is not a great phrase for anyone affiliated with the organization."

Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' is dominating the singles chart in the U.S.
'Blurred Lines,' Robin Thicke's huge breakout hit featuring that T.I. and Pharrell Williams, has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the fifth week. The track also spends a sixth week at No.1 on the Digital Songs chart, selling 423,000 downloads - equalling last week's total and bettering the previous week's 423,000.
'Lines' is only the second song to sell at least 400,000 downloads in three tracking weeks, joining Gotye's massive hit 'Somebody That I Used To Know' featuring Kimbra, which reached the mark on charts dated April 28, May 5 and May 12, 2012, according to Billboard.com.
'Blurred Lines' has now sold 2.4 million copies date, though concerns still remain over the song's controversial video featuring various well-known models parading around nude while Thicke stands around in a suit.
The claim that "Blurred Lines" trivializes rape is "ridiculous", says Thicke.
Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines and the accompanying video might have been getTIng a lot of flack for the “rape-y” lyrics and the objectification of women in the clip, but fret not, because Thicke himself has stepped up to defend his work. You have to admire the man for standing up to defend lyrics like “Nothin' like your last guy, he too square for you/He don't smack that ass and pull your hair for you” and, of course the ever charming “I'm a nice guy, but don't get confused, you gettin’ it” But at least Thick has a reasonable explanation for his questionable lyrics, right? Well, sort of.
“For me it’s about blurring the lines between men and women and how much we’re the same,” Thicke said in what sounds like a promising statement for Radio 1. “And then there’s the other side of it which is the blurred lines between a good girl and a bad girl, and even very good girls all have little bad sides to them.”
The censored version might have been deemed SFW, but it still has a lot of the same problems.

Robin Thicke wants to collaborate with Wimbledon champion Andy Murray.
Andy Murray. Wimbledon champion. US Open champion. Olympic champion. The greatest tennis player in Britain. Pop-star.
Yep, it looks as though old Muzza might be heading into the music business - if Robin Thicke has his way anyhow. The singer - whose smash hit single 'Blurred Lines' is the fastest selling track of the year - has revealed his plans to release a remix of the song featuring Murray himself. Discussing his plans on ITV's Lorraine programme, Robin explained, "I think I'm going to do a remix with Andy Murray," saying he would shoot a new video with a sports twist, specifically, "Beautiful girls in various tennis outfits with rackets strategically placed." We're not sure Murray would be up for this collaboration, given the state of his music taste.

Justin Timberlake's video for 'Tunnel Vision' has violated YouTube's nudity policy.
Justin Timberlake's 'Tunnel Vision' video - the unrated version - has been banned by YouTube for violating the website's nudity and sexual content policy.
The pop star released a promo for his new song earlier this week, which featured various nude women standing behind him as he performed - not unlike Robin Thicke's Blurred lines unrated video.
According to MTV, the video also featured a projection screen which played over the bodies of the women. Timberlake - who's returning album The 20/20 Experience was a monumental success - had warned fans on Twitter that the music video was a little bit raunchy and YouTube duly removed it from the site. He said, "Check out the new video for Tunnel Vision and be ready...it's explicit."
Thicke’s new album Blurred Lines is out on the 30th – we’ll leave it up to you to decide whether he is a potential threat to women or not
Weird, awkward and downright creepy. Robin Thicke’s new track and video for ‘Blurred Lines’ ft. T.I., Pharrell has been criticised for its 'rapey' lyrics.
Have we travelled back in time? Are women no longer regarded as free thinking individuals? Clearly not according to Robin Thicke, singer, actor and self-selected lothario, who teams his new track’s toe-curling lyrics with an equally degrading and blatantly misogynistic video. This hasn’t happened by accident – oh no – Mr. Thicke hasn’t just thrown a giant fake dice, an exercise bike and his bezzies T.I and Pharrell into a giant studio, proceed to corner a bunch of nearly naked models and then gotten surprised by peoples’ outrage.
“We tried to do everything that was taboo - bestiality, drug injections, and everything that is completely derogatory towards women,” proclaimed Thicke in an interview with GQ, not exactly helping his cause. He continues to describe the “pleasure” he took in degrading women, “I’ve never gotten to do that before. I’ve always respected women” – as if that somehow absolves him from all future wrongdoings towards women forever.

The Voice have a stellar line-up of big name performers booked for the season
The producers of The Voice USA have arranged a varied line-up of music stars to perform on the show in the coming weeks, Reuters reports. Amongst them is Rod Stewart, who will be performing music from ‘Time,’ his first album of original material in over 10 years. He is scheduled to appear on the show on May 10, according to the report and he will be joined by Cee-Lo Green – formerly a judge on the show. Green is expected to perform his new song ‘Only You.’
On May 14, the show’s organisers have lined up a performance from Lady Antebellum. The Grammy award winners are currently promoting their album Golden and have been invited onto the show; currently one of US TV’s prime spots for promoting artists’ new material. The pop singer Robin Thicke will also be making an appearance on the same show as Lady Antebellum, as will rapper T.I. and singer / producer Pharrell, who recently guested on Daft Punk’s comeback track Get Lucky. The show averages around 14 million viewers across the two weekly shows.
The Voice is currently in its fourth season in the US, having recently drafted in Shakira and Usher to replace Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera. The season will draw to a close in June, when a winner will be chosen and rewarded with a recording contract.

Albums of Note... Tasked with the tricky mission of releasing an album that stood up to their back catalogue, after several years in the wilderness and a brief spell of time on the reunion circuit, Suede have finally released Bloodsports. Rather than opting for replicating one of their previous albums, they have amalgamated elements of all five of them.
They’ve not lost their distinctive, Bowie-obsessed sound and Suede will forever have one foot in the Britpop era but with Bloodsports they have achieved what few can manage: to come back after a lengthy hiatus, ties unsevered, water under the bridge and still get back to making a quality album and reclaiming their mark on the British landscape.“Bloodsports then, is exactly the album that Suede needed to make. It is loud, aggressive, uncompromising and absolutely, defiantly Suede. Nobody else could have written these songs. Suede have done the almost impossible task of simultaneously looking back at the past while planting a foot firmly into the future.”
Pitched somewhere between The Killers and the Kings of Leon, Cold War Kids have returned with much of the same kind of material that they showcased on their first album. Dear Miss Lonely Hearts is a little bit “Cold War Kids by numbers” and although they’re pretty adept at what they do, if they just stepped out of their comfort zone for a moment, they could surely achieve much greater heights.
“The album's sure fire highlight is Jailbirds, a jaunty rocker, with a fat bass line and a noisy breakdown reminiscent of Queens of the Stone Age. This song offers something a little different and breaks the slight monotony of the rest of the album.”
Blu is a rare macaw parrot who never learnt to fly, after all he's never had the need to use his wings, his owner Linda provides everything he needs. Together they live a happy life, but when a scientist informs Linda just how rare Blu is, they hatch a plan to mate Blu with a female Bird who lives in Rio de Janeiro.
