Robin Williams’ family have finally settled their legal disputes over his estate. The issues between Williams’ third wife, Susan Schneider, and his three children began in December 2014. The dispute has reportedly been settled out of court and Schneider has decided to drop her petition.

The dispute began last December, four months after Williams’ death, when Schneider claimed she had not received enough money from her late husband’s estate. In her legal petition, Schneider claimed she was having financial difficulty in maintaining the house she shared with Williams. As the time went on, Williams’ personal items were drawn into the dispute including his bicycles, watches and family photographs.

Schneider and her lawyer, speaking to People, claimed they were pleased with the outcome.

"While it's hard to speak of this as a win, given it stems from the greatest loss of all, I am deeply grateful to the judge for helping resolve these issues," said Schneider said in the statement. "I can live in peace knowing that my husband’s wishes were honored."

Schneider has been able to retain a number of the possessions she requested during the dispute and a small portion of Williams’ estate has been settled on her to ensure she is able to continue living in the home she shared with Williams.

A part of the statement reads: "Mrs. Williams is able to keep the few emotional items she requested, such as their wedding gifts, selected clothing items, a watch Robin often wore, plus the bike she and her husband bought together on their honeymoon."

A representative Williams’ three children, Zachary, Zelda and Cody, also released a statement which simply reads: "The children are relieved to have this behind them."

They will also receive the majority of Williams’ $100 million estate and many of his personal items, including 50 bikes and 85 watches (Williams had extensive collections of both).

Williams, the much loved comic actor who starred in such films as Good Morning Vietnam, Mrs. Doubtfire and Good Will Hunting, died in August 2014. He committed suicide by hanging at his home in California. An investigation into his death later revealed he had been suffering from severe depression and complications from Parkinson’s disease. Further testing also showed the early stages of undiagnosed Lewy body dementia. Williams was 63-years-old at the time of his death.
