The on-screen legend will be remembered in World of Warcraft
As the world mourns the death of one of its finest entertainers, Robin Williams’ love for videogames is set to manifest in another type of tribute: a non-playable character in Blizzard’s hugely popular MMO, World of Warcraft.

Of course, Williams is well known for gifting many brilliant characters to film and TV, but his love for gaming made him even more of a cult hero in the videogame community – a kind of cultural vanguard for the medium.
“.@robinwilliams Thank you. You gave us so much joy in our lives, and we hope you enjoyed your time in our world. We’ll see you in-game,” read an official Tweet from the World of Warcraft account, confirming that – after calls for it to happen from fans – Williams will be remembered with a special character in-game. Williams spoke about his love for gaming in a Reddit AMA, which has been the focus of attention since his untimely death by suicide on August 12. He mentioned playing the critically acclaimed Portal series, as well as the blockbuster Call of Duty Franchise.
But it was The Legend of Zelda that really captured his attention; he even named his daughter after the titular princess after his son suggested it. "It's a sweet name and really kinda fits her, she's really kinda magical," he said in an interview with Jimmy Fallon in which he joked about his "cyberaddiction."

His most notable public display of affection for gaming was in the Nintendo DS advert for the Zelda game, Four Swords, in which his daughter co-stars. They play the multiplayer portion of the game only for the late actor to lose. The forfeit: shave his magnificent beard off.
