Rod Stewart's friendly feud with pals Sting and Elton John has reached a new level after the wrinkly rocker poked fun at Elton's weight and carved a message to Sting on a coffee table.

The trio recently fell out over remarks Stewart made in an interview in Britain - and now the MAGGIE MAY singer is poking fun at his pals in America.

He says, "We always have feuds. I really seriously think (Elton) has got to lose a little bit of weight. He's looking really large.

"He always has a go about my nose and hair, so we just bitch every now and then."

And Sting was so upset with a message Stewart left for him, he played a nasty prank on the rocker.

Rod giggles, "He was taking over a plane on a tour after I'd finished with it for three months and I just carved in the coffee table, 'Sting, you're a miserable old sod.'

"His revenge was he went round to my Beverly Hills house and chained up my front gates so I couldn't get out. We called the police, as you do when you're chained in.

"So we've had a bit of nonsense between each other but we're good mates. It's all fun."
