Rod Stewart has been announced as a special guest performer for hit TV series The Voice, with the British crooner slated to appear on the show in next month. Former judge Cee-Lo Green will also be returning to the show to perform, with the Gnarls Barkley singer also slated to appear on the singing contest during the same show as Stewart.

Network NBC revealed on Monday (April 29) that Green is due to return to the hit show to perform his new song 'Only You' and promote his upcoming album. Meanwhile Stewart will also be performing new material, taken from his upcoming album, Time, his first collection of original material in over a decade. The two will appear together on the show airing on NBC on May 8.

As well as the triumphant return of both Rod and Cee-Lo, NBC also announced a string of other performers who will be gracing the show throughout its May run. The week following Rod and Cee-Lo's appearance will see country group Lady Antebellum promote their new material on May 14, with Robin Thicke and Neptunes frontman Pharrell Williams and rapper T.I. also due to appear on the same show.

The competition's current season, its fourth so far, saw singers Shakira and Usher move in to replace Green and Christina Aguilera as judges, and viewers have responded well to the change with the show still performing well in the ratings. The currently season will come to an end in June, with a host of other popular stars expected to appear on the show between now and the end.
