Shamed Australian entertainer Rolf Harris has been stripped of his official honours in his home country following his sex crime conviction.

The veteran musician/Tv star is currently behind bars in the U.K. after he was handed a prison sentence of almost six years in June (14) for molesting four young girls aged between seven and 19 from 1968 to 1986.

Harris, who was convicted of 12 counts of indecent assault, has now been stripped of his Australian honours, including his appointments as an Officer and Member of the Order of Australia.

A statement from the secretary of the Order of Australia reads, "It is notified for general information that the governor general has terminated the appointments of Officer and Member of the Order of Australia in the general division, made to Mr Rolf Harris."

After his conviction, Harris was also removed from the Australian Recording Industry Association (Aria) hall of fame and he lost the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) fellowship he was awarded in 2012.

However, Harris retains his Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (Cbe) title, which he was awarded by Queen Elizabeth Ii in 2006.
