McGowan captioned the pic: "casting note that came w/script I got today. For real. name of male star rhymes with Madam Panhandler hahahaha I die."
The actress spoke more about the casting call and Sandler during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying, "I'm not trying to vilify Adam Sandler. Although someone did tell me that when he did his Netflix deal, he said, "I signed with Netflix because it rhymes with Wet Chicks." I mean, what? What in the f-k is going on? No!"
Sandler is no stranger to controversy. In April, a dozen Native American actors walked off the set of his movie Ridiculous 6 after becoming offended by the film's stereotypical subject matter.
Sandler was also criticized after wearing sweatpants and t-shirt to a recent photocall for Transylvania 2 while his co-star Selena Gomez wore a silky two-piece set.
McGowan is currently promoting her directorial debut Dawn, a short movie about a quiet young teenager who longs for something or someone to free her from her sheltered life.
