Ruby Rose is in talks to star in 'Meg'.

The 30-year-old actress is rumoured to feature in the upcoming shark movie - dubbed 'Jaws in China' - alongside Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's beau Jason Statham, which is based on Steve Alten's science fiction novel 'MEG: A Novel of Deep Terror', according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film will follow the gripping pursuit to kill a Megalodon, which is a 60-foot long prehistoric ancestor of the great white shark and is believed to be extinct, that has been mauling swimmers off the coast of China.

The 'Orange is The New Black' star is in negotiations to play an engineering genius and a member of the marine biologist team, whilst Statham will play deep sea diver Jonas Taylor, who is working undercover for the United States Navy on a top-secret dive, and 'X Men: Days of Future Past' actress Fan Bingbing will make an appearance in the production.

The plot will see Statham survive a close encounter with the beast, although the confrontation is not accepted by others and he has to prove the shark is real and dangerous.

The forthcoming project will see Jon Turbeltaub join the creative team to direct the blockbuster, whilst Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Belle Avery and Colin Wilson will produce the film, which is a co-production between Warner Bros and China-based Gravity.

'Meg' is set to hit the big screens in March 2, 2018.
