Has Russell Brand won over the BBC at last, after Sachs-gate? His Comic Relief gig went down a storm
Russell Brand’s relationship with the BBC may well be on the mend, as the risky comedian’s set at their Comic Relief ‘Give It Up’ show went down a storm. The 37 year-old turned out to be a bigger hit than fellow performer Frankie Boyle, whose humour tends to be even closer to the bone than Brand’s and apparently the Scottish comic bombed at Wembley Arena, according to MailOnline. Brand had previously found himself in trouble when he and Jonathan Ross offended the actor Andrew Sachs, on a BBC radio show.
Russell Brand seems to have won back the affections of the BBC
To celebrate the triumph of the huge arena show, Russell Brand headed to London’s exclusive Embassy club in Mayfair where he was reportedly met by a group of women who had been waiting for him. “There were several women waiting hours for him to turn up,” the report reveals and adds that they were “all over Russell when he got in the room and he was soon joined by about 20 gorgeous women at his table.” Nice work if you can get it, eh? The ladies’ patience was apparently rewarded with the hookahs (special electronic shisha pipes, no less and rugs that Brand had laid out on the floor for them and the controversial comic / actor ordered pots of tea for his guests.
Mighty Boosh comedian Noel Fielding joined Russell Brand for the festivities
The Embassy club is a known favourite of Brand’s. Back in 2008, he was caught in the toilets with two semi-naked women, by the staff that work there. He was joined, at his Comic Relief after-party by fellow dandy Noel Fielding, of Mighty Boosh fame.
