Russell Brand is set to host a radio show on Xfm later this month, as part of a promotion for a week-long series of Teenage Cancer Trust gigs, curated by former Oasis member Noel Gallagher. Brand’s radio show will take place on Monday March 18, 2013 between 9pm and midnight. He will be joined in the studio by his former co-host Matt Morgan, as well as the poet Mr Gee. It will be the first time in seven years that they’ll have been back in a radio studio together.

The new appointment will mark the first time that Brand has been back on UK radio for some time, after he caused a huge furore (along with Jonathan Ross, it must be said) when he left an offensive message of actor Andrew Sachs’ answerphone during a BBC Radio show. The Teenage Cancer Trust gigs that the show is designed to promote will be taking place from March 19, 2013, at the Royal Albert Hall.

Russell Brand will be returning to UK airwaves with Xfm show

Xfm’s managing editor told Radio Today “Russell is one of the worlds most unique talents and it’s a travesty he’s been off the radio for so long. Xfm is the perfect home for this show and we’ll be welcoming him back to where he started his radio career with open arms.” As well as playing music befitting of Xfm’s alternative style, Brand will also have special guests on the show and, “some of Russell’s trademark features delivered in the truly off-kilter and captivating style.” One for the diary, then for Brand fans.
