While Gosling has some comedy experience (Crazy Stupid Love, The Big Short), Crowe isn't known for his levity. But he saw more than humour in the project. "I just really liked the density of this script," Crowe says. "I wouldn't have described it necessarily as a comedy because it's full of social commentary and other things that you don't necessarily find in just a comedy."

He laughs when asked about beefing up for the role. "What I decided to do was just to live a completely sedentary life," he says. "What am I going to do, compete with Ryan? So I just decided to go the other way."

Director Ridley Scott has said he thinks Ryan Gosling will take the lead role in the new Blade Runner film which will also star Harrison Ford. But the follow up to the 1982 sci-fi cult classic will not have Scott behind the camera, as he’s now handed the reigns over to Denis Villeneuve.

Speaking to Den of Geek Scott said, “I think Ryan Gosling is probably going to do it, with Harrison.” When then asked if Gosling would play the central character Scott replied, “Yeah, yeah. I can’t really say more than that, because it’ll give away the story. But Harrison’s definitely in it. In an important way.”

Following recent negotiations to take the lead roles in La La Land, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are now confirmed to star in Damien Chazelle's follow-up to his Oscar-winning drama Whiplash.

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are in negotiations to star in Damien Chazelle's La La Land - the follow up to his Oscar-nominated movie Whiplash. A contemporary romantic musical, the film - which Chazelle wrote before Whiplash - was intended for Miles Teller, though the 28-year-old has now moved on.

Rising-star hunk Scott Eastwood hit the red carpet in Los Angeles this week for the premiere of his new movie The Longest Ride, a romantic drama based on the Nicholas Sparks novel. Ryan Gosling has come to the defence of girlfriend Eva Mendes, after she called sweatpants the "No. 1 cause of divorce in America!” during an interview with Extras. In the interview, Mendes had been dishing about her new found motherhood when she ended up making the comments which have since caused quite a stir on social media.

Eva Mendes has given her first interview since welcoming daughter Esmeralda six months ago in which the ‘Hitch’ actress describes her new life as a mother. Alongside talk of sleeping patterns, Mendes, who is dating Hollywood hunk Ryan Gosling, also dished to Extras about why she thinks sweatpants are the “number one cause of divorce in America.”

Mendes told Extras that since daughter Esmeralda arrived last September she now has a new appreciation for her own mother. “Now I understand so much, my mother’s never gotten more 'I love you so much mommy' texts, I mean, randomly… ya, I get it now,” the actress said.

Last year, Ryan Gosling completed his directorial debut Lost River and, just like most of the things Ryan Gosling does, it's a little bit odd and a little bit confusing. The film is screening at SXSW this weekend, a second chance at a premiere, after the not-so-warm welcome it received at Cannes.

In a leaked email thread between Amy Pascal and talent manager Ilene Feldman - which reads like a love letter to Gosling - it emerges that the Hollywood actor is keen to join the movie.

Eva Mendes could be seven months pregnant with Ryan Gosling's baby, unconfirmed reports have suggested. As well as expecting a child, the couple could also be gearing up to get married very soon, if reports from OK! Magazine are to be believed.

"Eva is thrilled. She's been ready for motherhood for a while now, and to be sharing this experience with Ryan is a dream come true for her," an insider told the US magazine.

The source underlined the potential significance of fatherhood for Gosling, saying "The source continued, "Ryan grew up without a dad, so he always said when he had kids, he'd be there no matter what. This is it for him."

Gosling reportedly demanded McAdams be removed with the set as he was struggling to work with her and even wanted a stand in actress to run lines with. Cassavetes tells of one incident in which the pair was not getting on well and Gosling asked him to remove McAdams from the set. He even requested another actress be brought in so he could practise his lines.

The Notebook has just turned ten, bringing the classic romance movie back into the headlines with a deluge of new interviews and trivia regarding the film. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, who play the couple central to the movie adaptation's story, have long been considered as one of the most powerful onscreen couples.

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks, the story charts two lovers who fall in love during the early 1940s. Local country boy Noah Calhoun and heiress Allie Hamilton embark on a romance despite a myriad of issues, including the implications of their different classes and disapproval of Allie's parents.

The chemistry between the pair was so intense that the actors dated in real-life after wrapping filming. However, director Nick Cassavetes has now revealed that the two didn't exactly hit it off during filming. "Maybe I'm not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not," he told VH-1.
