Ryan Gosling is all set to appear in the new action crime flick 'Gangster Squad' where he plays gangster cop Sgt. Jerry Wooters, though he now admits that he has no idea to act 'gangster'.

'The Notebook' star will appear in the movie, due out January 10th 2013, about a group of cops in the 1940s breaking all the rules to take down a formidable East Coast Mafia mob. It's based on a true story, though Gosling has confessed that that only made it more unbelievable. 'It was incredible - this is very different from the real story, in some ways the real story is even more surreal and unbelievable because these men actually did this', he told MTV News. And despite bagging a starring role, he doesn't 'really know' how to be a gangster. 'We were playing cops, ultimately', he said. 'And cops who had to sort of behave in way that they wouldn't necessarily choose to but they had no choice.'

Asked about his sex symbol status (how could you not?!), he says it's 'uncomfortable' for him and he thinks that 'anyone who was in 'The Notebook' would be receiving similar comments'. He also commented on the strangeness of being labelled thus and subsequently being led into conversations about his abs 'on a daily basis'.
