Ryan Reynolds and his actress wife Blake Lively, who tied the knot in September 2012, welcomed their first child into the world over the Christmas holidays, but the Hollywood actor is still remaining tight-lipped over any details surrounding the couple's baby girl.

Reynolds and Lively are keeping their daughter's name a secret for now

Despite reports claiming the pair named their daughter Violet, shortly after news broke that Lively gave birth, Reynolds has since confirmed this to be wrong. But now many people are curious as to what they called their newborn, especially David Letterman.

"We definitely [have a name]," the 38-year-old actor told Letterman on the Late Show on Wednesday, Feb. 4. "I threw out the idea of just never naming the kid to be totally original, but we have a name. I just don't want to say it in, like, a media context. I tell everyone who I meet, so it'll come out."

The talk show host then probed Reynolds with a variety of different names, including Madison, Isabella and Sophia, to see if he could guess the correct one, but the 'Green Lantern' actor did not break.

"I should've worn my cup!" Reynolds joked. "I didn't know I was going to busted this hard."

Letterman, however, refused to give up as he then proceeded to ask Reynolds if his daughter's name was a family name or even a biblical name in order to narrow the search down. Although confessing it was a name in the family's, Reynolds confirmed "It's not Elaine," which is Lively's mother's name.

After giving up, Letterman spoke about a subject 'The Proposal' actor was more than happy to discuss, his wife. "It's amazing," he said about his family life. "I'm not one for vomiting declarations of sentiment out across the airwaves, but when we had that baby, I fell more in love with my wife than I'd ever been in my entire life. I couldn't even believe it."

The only thing he loves more...his baby girl. "I used to say to [Blake], 'I would take a bullet for you. I could never love anything as much as I love you.' I would say that to my wife," Reynolds added. "And the second I looked in that baby's eyes, I knew in that exact moment that if we were ever under attack, I would use my wife as a human shield to protect that baby."
