Ryan Seacrest Unsure About Getting Involved With 'American Idol' Revival

Ryan Seacrest

There was big news today in American television as it was revealed that ‘American Idol’, one of the first reality competition shows to grace the small screen, will return this fall on ABC. However, according to its long-term host Ryan Seacrest, he might not be a part of the revival.

The big announcement was made on Tuesday morning’s (May 9th) edition of ‘Live With Kelly and Ryan’, which of course led host Kelly Ripa to ask her colleague Seacrest whether he would be a part of the comeback.

“No, I don’t know about that part yet,” Seacrest told Ripa when she asked if he would return as the host of ‘American Idol’, after he fronted the original Fox series from its introduction in 2002 to when it folded in 2016. Of course, he has been the full-time host of ‘Live’ since May this year, so he said the workload of preparation ahead of episodes of ‘American Idol’ would place a strain on him.

Dangerous Woman Indeed! Ariana Grande Flips Out On Ryan Seacrest

Ariana Grande Ryan Seacrest

Ariana Grande proved she really is a Dangerous Woman when Ryan Seacrest dared ask her about her relationship with rapper Mac Miller following her posting an intimate photo of the pair of them on Instagram. She appeared on 'On Air With Ryan Seacrest' yesterday (September 15th 2016) and made it clear what she did and didn't want to talk about.

The 23-year-old singer posted a shot of her hugging Mac Miller in an intimate position on the floor with the caption 'baabyyy', which certainly suggests that the couple are officially dating. Ariana didn't like Ryan Seacrest making that assumption on his radio show though.

The Verdict On Maroon 5's New Single, 'Maps'

Maroon 5 Ryan Seacrest Gwen Stefani

The wait for new Maroon 5 material is finally over. The band unleashed their brand new single, ‘Maps,’ and it’s the first taste we have from their upcoming album, V, out September 2 via Interscope Records. ‘Maps’ is Maroon 5 like you’ve never seen them before as the group enters uncharted territory with a song that’s bound to reach number one on the radio charts in no time. Produced by the same hit makers that brought you Overexposed’s ‘Payphone,’ ‘Maps’ has that same catchy flare to it featuring Adam Levine’s ever familiar falsetto. It’s a mid-tempo pop jam that never stops hitting, and it’s one of the best tracks we’ve heard from Maroon 5 yet.

Adam Levine SingingMaroon 5 releases their new single, 'Maps'

While ‘Maps’ is certainly different, it has an addictive chorus like none other. “All the worse you took came back to me/So I’m following the map that leads to you/The map that leads to you/Ain’t nothing I can do,” Levine croons, and there ain’t nothing you can do about having it stuck in your head all summer. Though the lyrics may speak of heartbreak, Levine says it’s about a little more than just that. “It’s complicated. It’s also kind of not giving up on things too. People go through a lot of things and get stepped on and step on others and we all make mistakes. It’s kind of more about not giving up on something, even though maybe you should,” Levine told Ryan Seacrest about the track on Monday.

'American Idol' Whittles Its Final Thirteen, Including First Openly Gay Contestant

Jennifer Lopez Harry Connick Jr. Ryan Seacrest

American Idol has selected its final 13 as the singing competition's strongest contestants emerge to battle it out in the final weeks. Before things get viciously competitive and exhaustingly emotional in those last few episodes, let's take stock of the last lucky 13.

American Idol Judges
This Week, The Judges Had To Whittle 20 Singers Down To 13.

This series of American Idol is momentous for having had the first openly gay contestant get this far. Contestant MK Nobilette, who says she has "two moms," has won over American voters with her likeable demeanour, not to mention some serious singing talent to boot. After the public picked her as one of their top ten, it is likely MK will get a lot further or even go all the way as one of the favorites to win.

The Million Second Quiz Set To Change The Outlook Of Game Show History

Ryan Seacrest

The Million Second Quiz debuted as one of the most anticipated game shows television history last night. The new show is hosted by Ryan Seacrest and millions were expected to tune to see what the chatter was really about.

Did the show live up to the hype?

A game show called 'The Million Second Quiz' doesn't really give a clear idea about the premise or anything else for that matter. The show runs for one million seconds (surprisingly), which is approximately 11 and a half days and contestants will be constantly battling for a cash prize of up to $10 million.

Lady GaGa Ryan Seacrest

Ryan Seacrest, Lady GaGa and a palette of face paint; a surefire way to whip up excitement for her new release, and maybe annoy the cleaners a little bit too. On Monday (12 August), Gaga dropped by Seacrest's radio show to drop her brand new track, 'Applause,' three days after the song leaked online. Unperturbed, the singer continued her promotional drive with the new track, which included a visit to Seacrest's radio show to discuss the single and her upcoming album, and give Seacrest a make-over in the process.

The singer took a unique approach to promoting her new material

Gaga arrived at the station in full 'Applause' make-up, a look that she continued to rock throughout the day, and couldn't help but make Ryan a little more Gaga by recreating her own look on his face. Seacrest later uploaded an image of the two in full 'Applause' make-up on to his Instagram page, after airing the song for the first time on radio. He captioned the picture; "One of us was born this way, one of us needed to be touched up."

The Miley Cyrus Show Hits Town – Fans Don’t Want It To End

Miley Cyrus Ryan Seacrest

Having debuted her new song, We Can’t Stop, on Ryan Seacrest’s Radio Show following her stint as a guest, the 20-year-old singer has been tweeting her fans, getting them excited for the video, which is due for release next week.

"Just watched #wecantstop 1st edit #musicvideo #riDONKulous," Miley posted, whetting her fans’ appetites no end. The former Disney star has also been making people guess at her love life; when posing for snaps outside KIIS-FM – wearing a rather revealing white crop-top ensemble – she drew the paps’ attention to a bracelet with the word ‘Nick’ emblazoned on it. Now, she used to date Jonas Brothers star Nick, but we don’t know if she’s talking about the same guy, but, either way, it plunges the state of her relationship with fiancé Liam Hemsworth into non-repair zone. Reports suggest that the pair are living separately after Liam had told his fellow pop star fiancée they were finished for good.

Miley Cyrus Debuts New Song 'We Can't Stop' And A New 'Grown Up' Sound

Miley Cyrus Ryan Seacrest

Miley Cyrus is back! not that she ever went away for long or anything but still, the singer has teased the first snippet from her upcoming fourth album in the shape of the track 'We Can't Stop.' Her still-untitled album is due to be released by the end of the year.

The singer premiered the track on Ryan Seacrest's On Air With Ryan Seacrest this Monday (June 3), giving a phone-in interview with the host to discuss the track and explain what it means to her. "Everyone always judges and says what they want, but my fans… have really stood by me no matter what I've been through … and this is a song that says where I'm at in my life right now."

Doing her best Rihanna impression over a subtle piano track that turns into a fuzzy, club-friendly synth drop, it seems that the point in her life that Miley was alluding to is the party-hungry years of the late teens/early twenties. With lyrics like "shaking it like a stripper" and references to "molly" (aka MDMA) and unspecified "lines" being taken in a toilet, the song demonstrates the the 20-year-old singer throwing off the shackles of her Disney heritage. So yeah, parents should probably prevent their younger kids from listening to the song, at least until they're in college.

Can 'Dancing With The Stars' Survive Without Derek Hough?

Derek Hough Kellie Pickler Cheryl Cole Ryan Seacrest Julianne Hough Dancing With The Stars

Derek Hough, the main professional draw on 'Dancing With The Stars,' is likely to leave the show the good and pursue his other ambitions. After picking up the mirrorball trophy for the fourth time - this time with Kellie Pickler - Hough is believed to be considering his role on the show.

"Derek has always wanted to eventually get back to the stage or other kinds of TV projects and even films," a veteran "Dancing" insider told the Chicago Sun-Times, "I know he's had lots of offers. This seems like the right time for him to pursue all that." Though Hough found fame on Dancing With The Stars, he is known outside of the ABC hit show and was thought to be dating British pop-stat Cheryl Cole for a short time. He is the brother of Julianne Hough, the girlfriend of the hugely powerful TV mogul Ryan Seacrest.

Derek is also a big-name on the stage and has appeared in productions of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' and 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and played Ren in a West End production of 'Footloose.' Did you know he also played a Hogwarts schoolboy in Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone back in 2001?

Awkward: Did Aretha Franklin Already Know The 'American Idol' Result?

Aretha Franklin American Idol Ryan Seacrest Candice Glover

Err, shooting into first place for the most awkward piece of television for 2013, it's Aretha Franklin telling everyone who won American Idolseason twelve before the result was officially announced! Appearing via satellite from New York for the season finale of Idol - which pitted Kree Harrison versus Candice Glover - Franklin appeared to spoil the result, saying, "Candice, you're a winner," from a huge screen in the Nokia Theater.

The audience were confused - had Aretha just told everyone who had won? Candice fans cheered, Kree fans fell silent. After an excruciating pause, the Queen of Soul added, "Win or lose - you're a winner," - which makes absolutely no sense to anyone.

The whole car-crash led host Ryan Seacrest to nervously ask Franklin whether she had the results. "I do," Franklin answered, "but I won't tell you." But she did tell everyone. She told everyone that Candice Glover had won. Which is actually what she went on to do.

So, Candice Glover Just Won American Idol, Right?

American Idol Candice Glover Ryan Seacrest

Candice Glover and Kree Harrison squared off in an all-female American Idol final on Wednesday (May 15, 2013) with Ryan Seacrest proclaiming the night to be country versus soul. On one side, there's the gleaming country balladry of Harrison, against the wide-ranging soul of Glover.

Both competitors brought their A-game, though Glover appeared to edge it. In the first sing-off, she sang Adele's 'Chasing Pavements,' while Harrison opted for the all-too obvious Angel. In the next round, Harrison opted for 'All Cried Out' while Glover went for 'I Am Beautiful' which Billboard said was, "perfectly expressed the kind of music Glover could be doing in a few months, highlighting her strong R&B tendencies with an empowering chorus that dispels all detractors." In the third and final sing-off, both performers were asked to choose their favourite song of the season, with Kree choosing 'Up To The Mountain' - which she first sang in the Hollywood round - and Candice choosing the Tom Jones track 'I (Who Have Nothing).

"The dramatic intensity was in full force, a lone timpani accompanying Glover as she actually topped her earlier version of the song (which was a tall, tall order), with some of the runs and held notes absolutely blowing the doors off the Nokia Theater. Absolutely killer," said Billboard.

Randy Jackson Leaves American Idol, Carey, Minaj And Urban To Follow

Randy Jackson American Idol Nicki Minaj Keith Urban Mariah Carey Nigel Lythgoe Ryan Seacrest

Randy Jackson has confirmed that he is leaving American Idol, adding credence to reports that he and the three judges, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban have been axed from the show in a dramatic shakeup. In a devastating cull, Idol bosses have decided to start over and reportedly told all four judges they would not be returning next season.

"Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season," Jackson said in a statement, "I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry," he said. "It's been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures."

An insider told The Wrap on Thursday (May 9, 2013) that Fox plans to start the show from scratch after the current season came in for the worst reviews and ratings of the series so far. The website also reported how executive producer Nigel Lythgoe may not be returning, though Ryan Seacrest will probably stick around.

Kim Kardashian Nude Dress Steals Show At Topshop Opening, Los Angeles

Kim Kardashian Kanye West Philip Green Kate Bosworth Ryan Seacrest Randy Jackson Derek Hough

Kim Kardashian's nude dress was a major talking point at the opening of Sir Philip Green's new Topshop and Topman stores in Los Angeles this week. Kardashian, 32, wore a nude black lace dress, feathery skirt, leather leggings and black pumps to celebrate the opening of flagship stores in West Hollywood. She was joined on the red-carpet by boyfriend Kanye West and mother Kris Jenner, while Ryan Seacrest, Derek Hough and Randy Jackson also made appearances.

Though Kardashian's nude dress did a wonderful job of embracing her pregnancy without being too revealing, the reality star had some major competition in the form of Welsh mezzo-soprano and recent Dancing with the Stars contestant Katherine Jenkins. The singer, 32, opted for a fitted strapless dress at the ritzy Cecconi's venue for the after-party, and matched it with gold heels and jewellery.

Sir Phillip Green has been planning the Topshop, Los Angeles stores for a while, and has aligned himself with the right people in Kim Kardashian etc as he brings his British clothing empire across the pond. He was the man behind Kate Moss' hugely successful line for Topshop in the UK and has called on the fashion forward Kate Bosworth to deliver a similar range for the Los Angeles store.  The Superman Returns actress was also in attendance at the opening, opting for a gold mini-dress with cross-bar neckline.

Ryan Seacrest Dodges Awkward Moment With Denzel Washington And Daughter

Denzel Washington Ryan Seacrest

Denzel Washington narrowly avoided a very awkward moment at the Golden Globes, when he hurriedly identified his date as his daughter. He was trying to avoid Ryan Seacrest introducing his 22 year-old daughter as his wife Pauletta (who normally accompanies Denzel to awards ceremonies). Luckily for Denzel, Ryan was on the ball and quickly responds that he was just about to ask who the date was.

Unfortunately, Ryan’s patter seemed to be thrown off course and he then asked, very hurriedly, ‘who’ she was wearing (i.e. which designer) and Denzel’s daughter Olivia mispronounced the name of the label, apologising that her French was not very good. Denzel, who was clutching his daughter’s hand the entire time, then said “she’s an aspiring actress,” to which no reply was given, other than Olivia looking pretty awkward and embarrassed. Denzel’s daughter was making a rare public appearance with her father; she’s one of four children (along with John David, Katia and Olivia’s twin brother Malcolm.)

Still, it’s definitely not the most embarrassing red carpet moment ever. Joan Rivers once managed to confuse Anthony Hopkins’ wife Jennifer Lynton for his mother in a cringeworthy case of mistaken identity. Luckily Seacrest is a dab-hand when it comes to live TV and thinking on his feet and managed to avoid making it a embarrassing family night out.

Legendary London Stage School Denies Julianne Hough Abuse

Julianne Hough Ryan Seacrest Patsy Kensit Kelly Brook Russell Brand

Head honchos at London's foremost dance and drama school the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts have moved to distance themselves from suggestions from Hollywood star Julianne Hough that she was mentally and physically abused as a student there. The Footloose star, and girlfriend of Ryan Seacrest, told Cosmopolitan magazine that she suffered abuse as an aspiring dancer in London.

Hough claimed she was taunted at the school, saying "I was told if I ever went back to the United States, three things were going to happen. One: I was going to amount to nothing. Two: I was going to work at Whataburger. And three: I was going to end up a slut. So, it was like, I can't go back. I have to be this person." Most worryingly, Hough said the abuse got worse when she hit puberty.

The comments have prompted Academy bosses to release a statement insisting that media outlets suggesting the star was abused while studying there are wrong. It reads, "We feel this article has been extremely badly worded and if re-read, you will see that although it mentions our name, it does not say that any abuse took place here.We feel sure Julianne would herself be horrified to learn that she had caused her old school any embarrassment or harmed its good name."

American Music Awards Endures Lowest Ever TV Ratings

Justin Bieber Stevie Wonder Ryan Seacrest

With Justin Bieber, MC Hammer joining Psy on stage and Stevie Wonder paying tribute to the late Dick Clark, The American Music Awards was supposed to be a huge televisual event, but not many people switched on to watch it.

We say 'not many', but Sunday's ceremony and performance show broadcast live on Walt Disney Co's ABC television was watched by an average 9.5 million viewers. Still, that's down from 12 million in 2011, and represents the worst return in terms of viewership in the show's history. Perhaps more importantly, the show dropped 21 percent of its viewers compared to last year in the much coveted and key 18-49 demographic most prized by advertisers, who fund the networks with their big bucks. The reason of this could be because it was up against football, which brings in huge figures, and ABC said the telecast was the top TV show of the night with women and teens.

The night also saw a touching tribute to the show's creator, Dick Clark, who created the American Music Awards as an alternative to The Grammys. Ryan Seacrest said of Clark, "Dick loved the power of music and its ability to create pure joy." Stevie Wonder, a great friend of Clarks, said, "I remember his friendship and his kindness. I remember his love for music and his love for people. I challenge you, you as communicators, leaders, politicians, spiritual leaders: Put your love first like we musicians put our music first... Then we can be jamming until the break of dawn," The Washington Post quoted him as saying.

Will Kanye West Propose To Kim Kardashian On Her Birthday?

Kim Kardashian Kanye West Ryan Seacrest

It looks as though this weekend could be when Kim Kardashian and Kanye West get ready to settle down for good, with an unlikely source coming forward to present the potential news.

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has hinted that at the possibility that Kim, who turns 32 today, has been suggesting to Kanye just what she wants as a present for the big day for some time, and what she wants is a big diamond ring that she can slip onto her finger.

Seacrest, who also serves as executive producer to Keeping Up With the Kardashians, let slip that Kim has been “demanding” that she get what she wants (nothing changes there then) from her beau, with Seacrest telling his KIIS-FM radio co-host Ellen K: “I think we could definitely see an update on this story on Monday.”

Is Jonas Brothers' 'Wedding Bells' About Miley Cyrus? Blatantly!

Miley Cyrus Nick Jonas Ryan Seacrest Liam Hemsworth Delta Goodrem

Miley Cyrus told Ryan Seacrest today (18th Oct. 2012) that she considers it 'blatant' that the Jonas Brothers' song 'Wedding Bells' is about her. Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus dated for over a year back in 2006-7. Since then however, Cyrus began dating Liam Hemsworth, who found his fame in The Hunger Games, and have since got engaged!

Speaking to Seacrest the actress/singer is adamant the song is about her, MTV reports: "I don't know who else is getting married. ... So I feel like that's pretty blatant, it's whatever. Like I said, everyone has to write songs that are about things that they felt and he even introduced that this isn't the way that I am." She said, "You can't ever hate on someone for writing about something you've been through. I think that you kind of get a fair warning when you date an artist and someone that's a writer. When you're going through things that you're going to end up hearing about it on the radio. I don't know...wedding bells are in my future, so I don't know."

With lyrics such as "She says, can you keep a secret / A ceremony set for June/ I know it's a rush but I just love him so much/ I hope that you can meet him soon" we can see why Miley might think the song is about her- but she certainly hasn't kept either her relationship or engagement a secret. Since Cyrus, Nick has dated another actress and singer, Australian Delta Goodrem. The couple broke up earlier this year- perhaps her engagement is the secret the Jonas Bros. song refers to? I guess we'll either have to wait and find out, or be content never knowing.
