Sam Mendes says the singer for the James Bond Spectre theme song has already been selected. Adele's theme for Skyfall is considered one of the finest 007 songs ever, though Barbara Broccoli clearly had somebody in mind to try and emulate the success of the Oscar-winning track.

Sam SmithAccording to the New York Post, Sam Smith has signed on to sing the new James Bond song

"When will you find out? You'll have to ask Barbara Broccoli, but I would say - on the basis of the last one - very, very late in the day," Mendes told Entertainment NOW! when pushed on a name for the new song.

British singer Sam Smith and the American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey have been touted as possible candidates for the job, though, as Mendes suggested, the selection is unlikely to be announced till the fall of 2015.
