Sam Smith Announces Break From Music

After three years of pretty much constant recording and touring, Smith is taking some time out to concentrate on his love life.
Having enjoyed an incredibly successful 18 months since his debut album was released, Sam Smith has announced that he’ll be taking a short break from all musical activity as he concentrates on his love life.
He told Entertainment Tonight at the red carpet premiere of the new James Bond movie Spectre, for which he sang the theme tune ‘Writing’s On The Wall’, that he’ll be taking a bit of time off from all touring and recording activities in order to focus on his personal life.

“I've been playing now for three years nonstop. And it feels right for me to just go home and live my life — just be a 23 year old,” he said while dressed in a sharp white tuxedo at the premiere on Sunday evening (October 26th). “I am sad, but also it feels right. It'd be good to actually spend some time dating I think.”

The primary inspiration behind Smith’s multi-million-selling album In The Lonely Hour was his unluckiness in love. He briefly dated dancer Jonathan Ziezel before breaking up, a relationship he acknowledged shortly after the release of that album, and since then he was linked romantically with ‘TOWIE’ star Charlie King earlier this year. When he does find love, let’s hope it doesn’t neutralise his muse…
About that second album, the singer admits that there’s “a long way to go” before it gets released. “I've been inspired the whole year - my love life, and the downs and ups have never stopped - so I'm always inspired by stuff like that,” he said. “I have been writing a little bit, and already I've found direction on what I want to say and how I want things to sound. But there’s a long way to go.”
