Transformers Mark Wahlberg Kelsey Grammer Megan Fox Michael Bay Sandra Bullock

Amongst the praise and back-slapping of awards season, the film industry also shows its less serious side once a year. Just a day ahead of the big Oscars reveal, the Golden Raspberry Awards, a ceremony dedicated to showcasing the very worst of the world of the big screen, has announced its list of nominations, and to nobody’s surprise it’s Transformers: Age of Extinction that leads the field.

The fourth instalment of the hugely successful but critically panned Transformers saga, starring Mark Wahlberg and Megan Fox and directed by Michael Bay, has picked up seven nominations in total. They include worst picture, worst director, worst sequel, worst screenplay, worst screen combo (for any two of the fighting robots), worst supporting actress for Nicola Peltz and worst supporting actor for Kelsey Grammer. The former ‘Frasier’ star was also recognised for his roles in The Expendables 3, Think Like a Man Too and Legends of Oz.

Sandra Bullock's Crazed Fan Charged With Residential Burglary, Stalking

Sandra Bullock

It’s scary being a celebrity these days. Even someone as well liked as Sandra Bullock isn’t safe, as the recent home invasion she suffered shows. When an alleged stalker invaded Bullock’s home on Sunday, the actress was forced to lock herself in a room until the police arrived on the scene. Bullock’s son was not in the house at the time.

The actress kept her presence of mind and locked herself in a room until the police arrived.

Now, TMZ has obtained even more disturbing information – the man  - Joshua Corbett - was carrying a machine gun when he went looking for Bullock. According to the police, via the gossip website, the stalker was indeed looking for the Gravity star and did not intend to burglarize the property. Apparently he was just hoping to get to meet his favorite celebrity – and went about it entirely the wrong way. Police responded to a 911 call from inside the residence after Corbett allegedly climbed the fence to access the actress' West Los Angeles residence. He was then arrested at the scene. According to law enforcement, he did not have the machine gun at the time of the arrest. Police found it later, which is why the troubling information is just being released now.

MPTF's Night Before The Oscars Pulling Out Of Partnership With Beverly Hills Hotel

Will Smith Jada Pinkett-Smith Ben Affleck Jennifer Garner Matthew Mcconaughey Jamie Foxx Sandra Bullock Octavia Spencer

In recent years, besides the glamour, celebrities and red carpet fashion at the Oscars, the show’s ethics have also been put into the spotlight. This year, The Night Before The Oscars, the biggest charity event related to the ceremony, has pulled out of the Beverly Hills Hotel because the venue is owned by the Sultan of Brunei. The event is being held by the Motion Picture And Television Fund, and the decision to stop collaborating with the hotel comes directly from the organization. The charity event does not want to appear to support or endorse the Sultan’s recently instated anti-LGBT penal code, based on Sharia law.

Supporters of the event include Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Officials from MPTF, have met with executives from both the hotel and the Dorchester Collection, owner of the Beverly Hills Hotel, to inform them of the decision, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Night Before party, which draws Hollywood’s biggest stars and every top executive in town, has been held at the Beverly Hills Hotel since its inauguration in 2003. It was originally started by Dreamworks’ CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and has since raised over $60 million since its beginning. The party is regularly attended and supported by A-list talent – the 2013 committee, for example, included Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, Camila and Matthew Mcconaughey, Jamie Foxx, Sandra Bullock and Octavia Spencer.

Tess Gerritsen Suing Warner Bros. Over Oscar-Winning 'Gravity'

Sandra Bullock Alfonso Cuaron

Tess Gerritsen, author of the book, ‘Gravity’, is suing Warner Bros., studio behind the film, ‘Gravity’, asserting that that the movie was based on her book. She is seeking a screen credit and a percentage of the profits in the lawsuit, which isn’t a typical copyright infringement case, but breach of contract instead.

GravityGerritsen claims the critically acclaimed movie, 'Gravity', is based on her ideas

Gerritsens novel, published in 1999, features a female lead stranded on a space station after the rest of her crew are killed. And like Sandra Bullock’s character in Alfonso Cuaron’s ‘Gravity’, she is a doctor. Deadline reports Gerritsen is asking for $10m plus damages from studio Warner Bros. She also wants a "based on the book by Tess Gerritsen" credit.

Cate Blanchett really wanted to commemorate her Oscar win on Sunday, and what better more permanent way is there then getting yourself a tattoo? The actress was seen leaving a tattoo parlour with a bandage on her wrist opening speculation as to what special ink the ‘Blue Jasmine’ star might have had done. While we were a little surprised at the image of Cate getting tattooed she’s not the only celeb sporting some unlikely ink.

Firstly none other thank Dame Helen Mirren has gone under the tattoo needle. The actress sports some ink on her left thumb of all places. The Dame said she got it when she was very drunk, a long time ago before tattoos were cool and mainstream, which is why she hates it now. She told ‘Good Morning America’ back in 2010 "I was very, very drunk. It was a very, very long time ago, when only sailors and Hell's Angels were tattooed, honestly, and prisoners. And I decided to get a tattoo because it was the most shocking thing I could think of doing." Seems Helen was always ahead of her time.

Robert Redford's 'All Is Lost' Heralds The Year Of The One-Man Show

Robert Redford Sandra Bullock

It's been years since we've had a good solo adventure, and now two come along at once. With Gravity still in the box office charts, All Is Lost is just arriving in cinemas (read our review here). For other examples, you have to go back to 2009 for Moon (Sam Rockwell in an abandoned moon base) or even further to 2000's Cast Away (Tom Hanks on an island with a volleyball). Please don't mention 2010's Buried (Ryan Reynolds in a box) or 2012's Brake (Stephen Dorff in a car boot).

Robert Redford All Is LostRobert Redford in 'All is Lost'

Both Gravity and All Is Lost have essentially the same plot, following a single character - played by awards contenders Sandra Bullock and Robert Redford, respectively- in a series of life-or-death moments that have us on the edge of our seats. Both plots are more than a little contrived, but they make up for it with bravura filmmaking.

'Gravity' And 'The Hunger Games' Storm Chinese Market: Box Office Report

For a while, it seemed as though Gravity might not even get a Chinese release, which would have been a mighty blow for Alfonso Cuaron and his thrill ride in space. But a combination of the Chinese upping their American film quota for the year and the promise of a big payday saw George Clooney and Sandra Bullock enter the lucrative market after all.

Gravity Above EarthGravity stunned the critics, and now it's stunning Chinese audiences

And Chinese cinemagoers responded in kind, shooting the film to the top of the box office, ahead of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. While Gravity pulled in $35.76 million from the box office in its first six days in China, Jennifer Lawrence n co accumulated $12.95 million.

Meanwhile, On Earth: See Who Picked Dr. Ryan Stone's Distress Call In 'Gravity'

Sandra Bullock Alfonso Cuaron George Clooney

Gravity has received unanimous critical praise, but if there were one criticism you could legitimately levy at Alfonso Cuaron’s space epic, is that the plot is somewhat lacking compared to the breath-taking imagery and CGI. It’s more or a roller-coaster ride, a theme park attraction, than a film.

Gravity Stranded above earth in Gravity

However you, as the audience, are welcomed to fill in any blanks you wish to. Cuaron provides ample space, no pun intended, for you to ponder your own plot points in the film. Like: does Matt break the record? What does Ryan Stone do when she lands on earth? And who was on the other end of that SOS call?

Halloween Weekend Box Office Preview: Could "Bad Grandpa" Knock Gravity Off The Top?

Sandra Bullock George Clooney Chloe Moretz

“Gravity” is a critically acclaimed space thriller starring A-listers and directed by Alfonso Cuaron. Bad Grandpa is Jackass’ newest collection of fart jokes and obvious innuendo. One of these should be a clear winner at the box office this weekend, but it might not be the one you expect. Gravity has been anchored at the top for three weeks straight, since its October 4th debut, but now the new contender looks set to knock the movie off its box office throne.

Gravity Still
Gravity will finally lose its leadership over Halloween weekend.

Interestingly enough, Ridley Scott’s the Counselor is also in cinemas this weekend, but maybe the overall poor reviews have influenced audiences, because the film isn’t considered a contender for box office glory, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Alfonso Cuaron's Terrifying 'Gravity' To Open 70th Venice Film Festival [Trailer]

Alfonso Cuaron Sandra Bullock George Clooney Terry Gilliam Matt Damon Christoph Waltz

Alfonso Cuaron's techno-thriller Gravity - starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock as astronauts stuck in space - will open the 70th Venice Film Festival this year. The movie, which could be either absolutely fantastic, groundbreaking cinema or dull sci-fi, will not vie for the coveted Golden Lion award and will screen out of competition.

Bullock plays Dr Ryan Stone, an engineer on her first shuttle mission, while Clooney plays the veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky. During a routine spacewalk, their shuttle is completely destroyed and radio contact to Earth is lost.

Both Cuaron and Bullock were on-hand to present new footage of Gravity at Comic-Con San Diego this week and spoke about the making of the movie.

Gravity - Detached, Drifting & I Got You Trailers

Medical engineer Dr. Ryan Stone is on her first mission into outer space with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky. Whilst admiring the view of their planet during a routine spacewalk, they are told to abort mission by Houston due to a catastrophic amount of debris circling their space craft Explorer. However, it appears too late when the shuttle is struck and blasted to pieces and both Stone and Kowalsky lose contact with Houston. Stone finds herself spinning out of control whilst tethered to a piece of Explorer, leaving her with no choice but to detach herself from the craft which threatens to pull her further away into space. Now drifting, alone and with no contact from Kowalsky, Houston or anyone else from Explorer, all Ryan can do is hope and pray and cling on to the little amount of oxygen she has left.

If anything's going to get your heart thumping this year, it's gritty space thriller 'Gravity'. Directed by Alfonso Cuaron ('Children of Men', 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', 'A Little Princess') and co-written by his son Jonas Cuaron ('Year of the Nail'), this movie uncovers the underlying terrifying things that can go wrong on an astronomical journey. It is due to be released in the US on October 4th 2013.

Poor Pacific Rim: Is Sandler's Soaring 'Grown Ups 2' The Worst Movie...Ever?

Adam Sandler Guillermo Del Toro Disney Sandra Bullock Melissa McCarthy Russell Brand Steve Carell

Yeah, we had a feeling this might happen. The $190 million budget of Pacific Rim is seemingly looking further away than ever after Guillermo Del Toro's blockbuster took just $38.3 million on its box-office debut over the weekend. The Idris-Elba starring movie - which courted mainly negative reviews - is now on course to become a loss making movie for Thomas Tull's Legendary Pictures.

As expected, it was the superb Despicable Me 2 that maintained the No.1 spot on its second weekend, grossing $44.8 million for a domestic total of $229.2 million and establishing itself as one of the success stories of the year. The animated flick featuring the voices of Russell Brand and Steve Carell also topped the global box office for the weekend with $100.5 million in ticket sales, Pacific Rim followed with $91.3 million.

Sony executives will have been jumping for joy on Sunday, with news that Adam Sandler's comedy sequel Grown Ups 2 opened to a stellar $42.5 million domestically. In fact, Sony were so happy they released a cheery statement for us all to read, via the Hollywood Reporter:

Gravity Space Thriller Due To Land At Venice Film Festival Opening [Trailer]

Sandra Bullock Alfonso Cuaron George Clooney Benicio Del Toro

It's a festival of firsts for Spanish filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón: not only will his chilling new space thriller Gravity be the first 3D picture to open Venice, but it'll be the first time a Cuarón film will screen out of competition.

Alfonso Cuaron
Alfonso Cuaron Will Debut Gravity At The Venice Film Festival's Lido.

Gravity will take basic human fears and instincts into space as two astronauts - George Clooney and Sandra Bullock - are conducting a routine spacewalk when an unthinkable scenario strikes leaving the pair left floating in orbit after a meteor shower causes damage to their space station. It's the kind of primal fear exploited in Open Water (2003); two humans stranded helpless with imminent danger and slim chances of survival. In the terrifying isolation of space the characters' morals are tested meaning the film will follow the more psychological line seen in 2009's Moon as opposed to the action and explosion of space blockbusters such as Armageddon (1998).

George Clooney's 'Odd Film' 'Gravity' To Open Venice Film Festival

George Clooney Sandra Bullock Robert Downey Jr Blake Lively Scarlett Johansson Natalie Portman

George Clooney's new movie Gravity, about two astronauts stranded in space, will open the 70th edition of the Venice Film Festival on August 28, 2013. The 3D movie by acclaimed director Alfonso Cuaron, will hit theaters in the U.S. on October 4, 2013 and is already drumming up anticipation thanks largely to an intriguing teaser trailer.

"It is a very odd film, really," Clooney told USA Today in 2011, the year before Gravity was originally set to be released. "Two people in space. No monsters. It's more like 2001 (A Space Odyssey) than an action film." It's been a long road to get the movie to screen, with Robert Downey Jr originally pencilled in for the male lead before dropping out of the project and opening the door for Clooney.

Producers originally settled on Sandra Bullock for the female lead after reportedly testing French actress Marion Cotillard and mulling over the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively. Natalie Portman was apparently offered the role without a screen test following her Oscar winning performance in Black Swan, though passed on the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Despicable Me 2 (not exactly a title that rolls off the tongue) is in theatres this week. While the film itself can’t quite match up to the original, it’s raised enough buzz – and consequently, enough cash – for the franchise to live on. The folks over at Universal aren’t ones to miss a cash cow, should it pass by, so it’s hardly a surprise that the plot for a spin-off movie has already been announced. And what better focus for a spin-off than those lovable (if undeniably terribly dense) little creatures – the minions? The aptly titled Minions is already being slated for a December 14, 2014 release date.

Sandra Bullock, The Heat Premiere
Bullock as an animated villain? Yes please!

The recently released synopsis, courtesy of Den of Geek, reads: "The Minions, breakout stars from Despicable Me, are presented in an origin story that showcases their unpredictable personality and physicality, and pairs them with equally memorable human characters. As it turns out, Minions have existed since the beginning of time. They have evolved from single (yellow) cell organisms into the familiar beings we know, and they live for a collective purpose: to seek out and serve the most despicable master they can find. Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock will lead the voice cast of characters as Scarlett Overkill, the worlds reigning super-villain of the 1960s".

The Heat's Wave Of Reviews Is Hardly Warm - Melissa McCarthy And Sandra Bullock Play It Safe

Melissa McCarthy Sandra Bullock Michael Caine Demian Bichir Michael Rapaport Marlon Wayans Jane Curtin

Critical reviews of The Heat, starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, have been more lukewarm than scolding.

Sandra Bullock plays Sarah Ashburn, an FBI agent incapable of having fun (sounds familiar?), who is paired up with rotund police officer Shannon Mullins, played by Melissa McCarthy (again –does this remind you of everything?)

In fact, throw in a camp Michael Caine and an awkward ginger haired English actor and voilà! You have a bizarre combination of Miss Congeniality and Hot Fuzz

Sandra Bullock In Talks For Jay-z And Will Smith’S ‘Annie’

Sandra Bullock Carol Burnett Quvenzhane Wallis Jay Z Will Smith Jamie Foxx Will Gluck Emma Thompson Aline Brosh McKenna

Sandra Bullock is in talks with producers of the upcoming Hollywood remake of ‘Annie,’ according to The Wrap. Rumours of Bullock’s involvement started circulating in March, although it is believed talks have since reopened with Sony and Overbrook Entertainment.

The musical, first shown on Broadway in 1977, was made into a film in 1982. Should the studio’s plans come into fruition, the actress would be playing Miss Hannigan: the abusive overseer of Annie’s orphanage. As such, Bullock will be competing with Carol Burnett’s performance.

This role would mark a change for the actress who has previously appeared as the heroine in the majority of her films including The Blind Side, The Proposal and All About Steve.

The film opened in America last Friday and in the UK this Thursday.

Mulligan also stars in another film in competition at Cannes: the Coen brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis is the story of a folk singer (Oscar Isaac) in 1960s New York. The eclectic, starry cast includes Justin Timberlake, Garrett Hedlund and John Goodman. And to go with the Cannes world premiere, the film launched its first trailer this week. It looks pretty unmissable, and is being released to target awards season.

'Gravity Trailer' Stars George Clooney And Sandra Bullock (And Nobody Else) [Trailer]

George Clooney Sandra Bullock

George Clooney and Sandra Bullock are not exactly names synonymous with sci-fi films, but the two will be getting together to try their hand at the genre in the upcoming space-based thriller story Gravity. In the trailer we see Clooney and Bullock drifting above Earth's atmosphere and not a lot else in terms of other acting talent, and that is because the two are essentially the only cast in the entire film.

The movie sees young astronaut Dr. Ryan Stone (Bullock) on her first trip into space, where she is taken under the guidance of veteran cosmonaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney), who is nearing his retirement - the prime time for disaster to strike anyone. As they admire the views of Earth from the best vantage point anyone could ask for, debris hits their space shuttle and the two are separated and flung further into the vast emptiness of space. The two must work together if they are ever going to get back to Earth, but first they need to work out just how they would even go about doing such a task in the first place.

The trailer for Gravity

The trailer fails to give away too much, but it does show off some spectacular imagery that looks as though it was shot directly from the International Space Station. Whilst some two actor movies of the past (think Open Water) have been nothing but a bore, this movie genuinely looks as though it packs a punch, with the acting talents of Clooney and Bullock hopefully not letting the film down.
Gravity is the brainchild of Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) and his son Jonas Cuaron (Year of the Nail), with pappa Cuaron directing the film. It is set to hit cinemas on October 18th 2013.

Gravity - Teaser Trailer

Dr. Ryan Stone is a young medial engineer on her very first trip to space alongside Matt Kowalsky, a highly experienced astronaut on the brink of retirement. When the pair tether themselves to their space shuttle to make a standard spacewalk and get carried away by the beautiful view that is the Earth, they fail to notice large chunks of debris hurtling towards their transport home, blasting the shuttle into smithereens. All they can do is hold on to what's left of it and hope and pray that they reach their home over their radios in order to be rescued as the precious amount of oxygen left in their suits dwindles rapidly. But in the most destructive of foreign surroundings, just how long have their got left before they are inescapably sucked into the void of the universe?

'Gravity' is the brand new space thriller directed and co-written by Alfonso Cuaron ('Children of Men', 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', 'A Little Princess') alongside his co-writer son Jonas Cuaron ('Year of the Nail'). It is an extraordinary two-actor epic that will drag you on an heart-stopping, emotionally-charged journey as it focuses on the pure vastness of the merciless cosmos. It is set to hit cinemas on October 18th 2013.

George Clooney And Sandra Bullock Face Disaster In Space Thriller 'Gravity' [Trailer]

George Clooney Sandra Bullock Alfonso Cuaron

George Clooney and Sandra Bullock are in grave danger in the new space flick 'Gravity' where they play a pair of ill-fated astronauts.

What is the worst way to die? Drowning? Being buried alive? How about getting lost in outer space? Certainly that's Clooney and Bullock's characters' biggest threat in the new teaser trailer for 'Gravity' when they venture out on a mission to the stars and their space shuttle gets ripped apart by falling debris while they are gazing at the earth from outside it. All they can do is hold on to the wreckage and hope that they don't get flown further than they are from the earth where they are near enough to hope someone will rescue them. This heart-wrenching space epic has been directed by Alfonso Cuarón ('Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', 'Children of Men') and will certainly make a huge impact on cinematic viewing this year.

The teaser will be drawing in audiences everywhere as it depicts a disaster of such unfathomable hopelessness, that no-one will want to be left in the dark about the ending. The movie is due to be released in 3D on October 4th 2013 with the ominous tagline 'Don't Let Go'.

Shocker: Alfonso Cuarón's 'Gravity' Is Looking Really, Really, Good [Trailer]

George Clooney Alfonso Cuaron Sandra Bullock Clive Owen

A teaser trailer for Gravity, the new movie from Alfonso Cuarón, has rolled out online. The sci-fi movie follows two astronauts played by Sandra Bullock and George Clooney who get stranded on a damaged space station with absolutely no communications with Earth. Spanish filmmaker Cuarón is best known for his dystopian future Earth flick Children of Men - with Clive Owen - though Gravity appears to be vastly different ground.

The teaser trailer focuses on the devastating accident that leaves the astronauts set adrift from their ship. The visuals are stunning and Cuarón appears to be the right man to take the colors and stark atmosphere in space and present it on the big-screen. The most important thing about Gravity is that it looks very different from the slew of sci-fi movies coming out this year - After Earth, Star Trek etc - and that's definitely no bad thing.

Sandra Bullock Promotes 'The Heat' At CinemaCon, Director Paul Feig Expresses Support For Boston

Sandra Bullock Melissa McCarthy Paul Feig

Paul Feig, director of the upcoming cop flick “The Heat”, starring Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock, expressed his support for Boston and its citizens, following the marathon bombing earlier this week.

Feig, whose upcoming flick is set in Boston, praised the resilience of bostonions, saying: "If any city had to get through adversity, this is the city to do it" during a talk at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. His mention of the attack was one of few at the convention. The other one was made by Chris Pine, prior to the screening of “Star Treck Into Darkness” on Monday. Pine’s statement aimed to draw a parallel between the bombings and the plot of his upcoming movie, in which a terrorist attack is executed against “Starfleet”. "Terrorism is a big part of our lives," Pine said.

Feig’s “The Heat” has been eagerly anticipated ever since the first trailer was released. As an addition to the “buddy cop” sub-genre, it puts somewhat of a fresh twist on the story, by making the main characters female. Despite the grim comment before the screening, the film itself was received very well by the initial audience. “The Heat” is due for official release across US theatres on June 28th.

Sandra Bullock And Melissa McCarthy Hit Up Disneyland!

Sandra Bullock Melissa McCarthy Alfonso Cuaron George Clooney

Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy were snapped wandering around Disneyland on Thursday afternoon, but don't worry, the Hollywood superstars had their young children with them (well, one of them did). The Heat co-stars were joined by Bullock's son Louis and Melissa's husband Ben Falcone, reports E! Online.

Earlier this month, Sandra and Louis, 2, had a 'play date' with Melissa and her daughters Vivian, 5, and Georgette, 2, at the Bridesmaids actress' home. The pair star together in the forthcoming comedy The Heat, about an uptight FBI special agent who is paired with Boston cop Shannon Mullins in order to take down a ruthless drug lord. The problem is that neither have ever had a partner, or a friend for that matter. Director Paul Feig recently told E! Online that Sandra an Melissa "really became the best of friends" during filming, "Their chemistry was so quick and good right off the bat," he said.

Though the movie is likely to perform strongly at the box-office, Bullock will be keeping a close eye on the reception to Gravity - Alfonso Cuaron's forthcoming sci-fi thriller that will be vying for a slew of awards. Also starring George Clooney, it follows astronauts who attempt to return to earth after debris crashes into their space shuttle, leaving them drifting alone in space.

The Heat Trailer

Sarah Ashburn is an FBI special agent with an unmatched record for closed cases. However, she is as much valuable as she is disliked as her flawless reputation has inflated her ego and turned her into a control freak who repeatedly fails to be a team player among her fellow agents. When her boss sends her to Boston, little does she know that she's about to meet her match in the shape of Detective Shannon Mullins; a loud-mouthed cop who has also never been good at working with other cops and makes for a truly formidable adversary. However, it is to everyone's surprise when these tough-talking law enforcers succeed in partnering up to bring in a particularly ruthless mobster with serious drug connections and manage to work together in interrogating his known associates. It soon becomes clear that these ladies are becoming less in the way of crime-fighting partners and more in the way of best friends.

This fantastic bad girl comedy sees Sandra Bullock ('Miss Congeniality') as an FBI agent yet again and, for this reason alone, guarantees it to become a huge comedy flick. Directed by Paul Feig ('Bridesmaids') and written by Katie Dippold ('MADtv', 'Parks and Recreation'), 'The Heat' is set to hit screens on April 5th 2013.

Sandra Bullock To Chelsea Handler: Stop Sleeping With Guests, Lay Off The Booze!

Chelsea Handler Sandra Bullock Gwyneth Paltrow Cameron Diaz Jennifer Aniston

Chelsea Handler returned with the season premiere of her new late night talk show 'Chelsea Lately' on Monday evening (October 15, 2012), calling in a couple of favors to give the programme an added boost.

Handler dipped into her bulging book of celebrity contacts, recruiting Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz to rap, Jennifer Aniston to cry about her recent engagement to Justin Theroux, and Sandra Bullock to strip in the staff showers. Yep, you heard us correctly. In a skit for the show, Bullock and Handler were shown road-toasting the studio's new facilities though the Oscar winning actress had a little advice for the talk show host. After telling her friend to stop calling herself the "white Oprah", Bullock said, "You have a responsibility to be a respectable talk show host. This comes directly from Oprah's mouth to my ear, to my mouth, out of my mouth, into your ear, down your body, out your vagina, up my vagina and out my ass." Nice. The actress also told Handler to stop sleeping with her guests, to which the host guiltily replied, "I don't sleep with that many anymore... just some of the rappers."

Handler's ability to land regular A-listers for 'Chelsea Lately' will be a huge advantage for the E! network as the show begins its new season. Catch it every Monday, at 11pm.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close Review

Based on the Jonathan Safran Foer novel, this film holds its heavy emotional weight in check right up to a rather overwrought conclusion. But along the way, its characters worm their way under our skin.

Oskar (Horn) is the son of a jeweller (Hanks) who died in the World Trade Center on 9/11. A year later, he's still struggling to make sense of what he calls "the worst day", worrying that his sense of his father is fading away. So when he finds a key in his father's things, Oskar embarks on a quest to find the lock. His mother (Bullock) is lost in her own grief, but Oskar finds companionship in the mute stranger (von Sydow) who rents a room from his granny (Caldwell).

With a dense Alexandre Desplat score, textured Chris Menges cinematography and fluid editing by Claire Simpson, this film feels almost like a wave that engulfs us right from the eerily effective opening shot. Daldry has done this before (see The Hours), although this film also has a more manipulative plot in which each character and situation seem to be packed with deeper meaning.
Fortunately, Oskar's sense of yearning helps undermine the sentiment.

Horn is terrific in every scene, beautifully bringing out Oskar's autistic quirks without letting us feel any pity. The way he so brutally dismisses his mother is heartbreaking because it's so honest, and his growing bond with von Sydow's enigmatic, engagingly cheeky renter is fascinating to watch. Bullock gets her most complex role since Crash, and Davis gives yet another terrific supporting turn as one of the first people Oskar encounters on his journey.

Where the film wobbles is in its over-reverent treatment of 9/11 itself, as if Oskar's grief is any more intense because his father died in such a public way.
It's the quieter, more personal aspects of the story that are far more moving, especially as the plot takes some lovely twists in the final act. But Daldry and screenwriter Roth seem even more obsessed with finding a cathartic resolution than Oskar himself, leading to final scenes that feel tidy and a bit sappy. Even so, the film leaves us emotionally stirred in all the right ways.

Video - Sandra Bullock Looking Smart At Premiere - Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close New York Premiere Arrivals Part 2

Sandra Bullock attended the New York premiere of Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close at the Ziegfeld Theatre. Sandra stars in the film as the mother of young Oskar Schell and looked very smart with sleek, straight hair. Jeffrey Wright followed her onto the red carpet shortly afterwards, wearing a crisp, white suit.

A few of the main cast, including Tom Hanks; Viola Davis; Thomas Horn and the aforementioned Sandra met up with each other on the red carpet and immediately started chatting to each other as they stood for pictures together

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close Trailer

Oskar Schell is an eleven year old genius who views the world differently to others. He is also a Francophile, an amateur inventor and a pacifist. He's very close to his father and together they make it their mission to find something from every decade of the twentieth century in what he called a 'reconnaissance mission.'

Premonition Review

Forgive me for treading lightly through this Premonition review, but the last time I tried to discuss the film in detail, Sony reprimanded me.

The reason I find this so funny is because the out-of-order thriller consciously jumbles its supernatural narrative in an effort to dodge easy explanations. You're going to want to discuss possible theories with those who've seen it, which is exactly what I planned to do while working the Premonition press junket weeks ago.

The Thing Called Love Review

The routine story of four scrappy Nashville newcomers who hope to make it as country music stars, The Thing Called Love wouldn't hold much interest if it weren't for one important fact: a clearly deteriorating River Phoenix stars as one of the four, and this is the last film he completed before his 1993 death. Director Peter Bogdonavich was probably excited by the prospect of working with the gifted Phoenix, but the resulting film is a record of his struggle to get something -- anything -- out of the incapacitated star.

In reality, the movie centers not around Phoenix but around Miranda Presley (Samantha Mathis), who lets everyone know she's "no relation" to The King but has similar musical dreams. She meets up with southern beauty queen and songwriter wannabe Linda Lue (Sandra Bullock with a rather unfortunate southern accent) and the hunky Connecticut cowboy Kyle (Dermot Mulroney), whose instrument of choice, strangely enough, is the cello. They all hang around the Bluebird Café, which hosts Nashville's most promising open mike night, the place where aspiring songwriters come to show their stuff.

Crash (2004) Review

In Crash, a simple car accident forms an unyielding foundation for the complex exploration of race and prejudice. Thoroughly repulsive throughout, but incredibly thought provoking long after, Paul Haggis' breathtaking directorial debut succeeds in bringing to the forefront the behaviors that many people keep under their skin. And by thrusting these attitudes toward us with a highly calculated, reckless abandon, Haggis puts racism on the highest pedestal for our review.

There is no better place for this examination than the culturally diverse melting pot of modern-day Los Angeles. In just over 24 hours, Crash brings together people from all walks of life. Two philosophizing black men (Ludacris and Larenz Tate) steal the expensive SUV belonging to the white, L.A. District Attorney (Brendan Fraser), and his high-strung wife (Sandra Bullock). A similar vehicle belonging to a wealthy black television director (Terrence Howard) and his wife (Thandie Newton) is later pulled over by a racist cop (Matt Dillon) and his partner (Ryan Phillippe). Soon, many of these people get mixed up with a Latino locksmith (Michael Peña), a Persian storekeeper (Shaun Toub), and two ethnically diverse, dating police detectives (Don Cheadle and Jennifer Esposito).

Fire On The Amazon Review

For years, Roger Corman waited to release this title to the world of drooling teenagers who frequent those free porn sites. There's certainly a fervid audience out there who are just mad about the very notion of seeing their favorite "girl next door", Sandra Bullock, completely naked. It's even on DVD, so you can freeze-frame it on a whim. It'll be the thrill of their lifetimes - the rare opportunity to do a National Geographic study on this popular movie star. Could you imagine what would happen if this were Julia Roberts?

If nothing else, Fire on the Amazon serves as a reminder that superstardom does not occur overnight in Tinseltown, and some unlucky starlets have to hock their wares in bottom-of-the-barrel, straight to video schlock. Yes, like many of those "overnight success" stories, Bullock had to slog through made-for-television weepies and cheapies, raunchy comedies and rip-offs of bigger, better Hollywood blockbusters.

Speed Review

Speed is to hostage thrillers as Psycho is to slasher flicks. Voted one of AFI's Top 100 Most Heart-Pounding Movies of all time, few hostage movies reach this level of tension and sustain it throughout the entire running time. Audiences may have experienced similar stories before, but they are seldom done this well and with this level of energy.

The movie begins when a deranged mad bomber, Howard Payne (Dennis Hopper), severs cables to an elevator inside a Los Angeles skyscraper. The bomber demands $3 million ransom or he'll blow the emergency cables. LA Bomb Squad members Jack (Keanu Reeves) and his partner, Harry (Jeff Daniels), must defuse the bomb before Payne blows the cables. This situation alone could provoke a feature length thriller, but it merely serves as the first act for Speed.

A Time To Kill Review

Remember the hoopla over the novel A Time To Kill? It was celebrated author John Grisham's second book -- actually his first book -- the book he published after The Firm became a hit. The book that no one wanted before he was famous. The book, apparently, that, if it hadn't had his name on it, would never have been published.

Now it's the fourth Grisham movie to be made, continuing in grand fashion that franchise of increasingly average film versions of his increasingly average writing.

Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous Review

Sandra Bullock isn't doing her underappreciated talentany favors by appearing in "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous,"a relentlessly dim-witted sequel to her 2000 hit about a tomboy FBI agentgoing undercover at a beauty pageant.

The first "MissCongeniality" was itself so hackneyed thatthe actress's Lucille-Ball-like gift for guffaws was just about its onlysaving grace, and the same fate befalls her here. Bullock's delivery ofa few choice one-liners is the sole source of laughs in this clunker, andit's amazing to see her pull them off when her character has, without explanation, turned into a vapid, shallow, egocentric Barbie doll nitwit after becomingan implausible spokesmodel for the FBI.

It seems after her exposure at the Miss United States beautypageant in the first picture, the bureau decided she could best serve hercountry by being tarted up literally in satin and bows, and paraded aroundon a waving-and-smiling publicity tour of talk shows and personal appearances.

Miss Congeniality Review

If the whole crew that made "Miss Congeniality" -- writer, director, stars, everybody -- were to get together for another movie, one with a less idiotic plot than a tomboy FBI agent going undercover at a beauty pageant, I'd be gung ho to see it.

The level of talent and the amount of good humor that goes to waste in this gimmicky, so-stupid-it-stops-being-funny star vehicle is phenomenal.

Sandra Bullock is said star, and her screwball (bordering on Lucille Ball) performance as a clodhopping, quarrelsome, graceless lout of a foible-prone FBI agent would be comic gold if the boat anchor of a story weren't dragging it down.

28 Days Review

Director Betty Thomas' name in the opening credits of "28 Days" came as a big relief leading in to what looked like a soft-pedaled, politically corrected comedy about a happy-go-unlucky drunk -- played by button-cute Sandra Bullock -- wise-cracking her way through rehab.

It was reassuring to see that the woman holding the reins was a filmmaker who certainly knows how to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. I mean, if she could make Howard Stern not only presentable but borderline sentimental (and without a hint of saccharine whitewash) in "Private Parts," surely a touchy subject like alcoholism is safe in her hands.

And so it is. Striking a sure-footed balance between its addiction woe and impudent humor, Thomas isn't afraid to scoff at twelve-steppers and include jests of questionable taste while still pulling off a story of a woman's difficult personal journey toward sobriety.
