Santigold's new single, Big Mouth, was released on January 18th, 2012 and is taken from her second studio album, Master of My Make Believe, which will be released on April 23rd, 2012, through Atlantic Records.
The video for Big Mouth is an attention grabbing animation directed and illustrated by Cody Critchcoe. Santigold appears in colourful worlds with weird and wonderful drawings and effects. At one point, a crude drawing of Lady Gaga as a mermaid swims into shot and swims out just as quickly. You won't know where to look and what to look at while watching this video.
Santigold has already made a name for herself in the music industry. Born Santi White in Philadelphia, Santi co-wrote Lily Allen's Littlest Things with Mark Ronson in 2006. Her debut album, Santogold (her previous stage name before she changed it to avoid a lawsuit) with universal acclaim and paved the way for artists such as M.I.A.
Santigold has also toured with Coldplay; Jay-Z and Kanye West, as well as The Streets. She has also collaborated with The Beastie Boys; Pharrell Williams; The Lonely Island and Kanye West.
Big Mouth was produced by Switch, who produced songs for the likes of Beyonce; Christina Aguilera and Nicola Roberts. Speaking about the new record Santi said: 'My record is called Master of My Make-Believe because I want it to be about creating your own reality. I have a song called 'The Keepers': 'we're the keepers, while we sleep in America our house is burning down.'
