Sarah Harding, the British singer and Girls Aloud star, has checked into rehab after suffering from depression and alcohol addiction. Sources claim Sarah hit "rock bottom" after splitting from her fiance Tom Crane last month, according to the UK's Sun newspaper.
The couple were due to marry at a glitzy ceremony next summer, but called off the engagement after a series of fights. Tom, an award-winning house DJ, had reportedly clashed with Harding over their increasingly "hell raising" lifestyle. A source close to the couple said, "She's been through a traumatic time in her personal life and had to honour her work commitments on top. She needs some time out to clear her head", adding, "Splitting from Tom has played a huge part in her decision to seek help. She just needs to get herself back on track emotionally. She had hit rock bottom". Since rising to prominence with Girls Aloud, Sarah has become a regular on the London club circuit, however, she has been spending less time with band mates Cheryl Cole and Nicola Roberts. The source added, "It all just got the better of her. She had been with Tom for a long time. All her plans for the future suddenly came crashing down".
A spokesman for Girls Aloud released a statement confirming the news, it read, "Sarah Harding has entered a treatment centre for depression and alcohol addiction".
