Ben Stiller And Owen Wilson Turn Up As 'Zoolander' Characters On 'SNL'

Ben Stiller Owen Wilson Saturday Night Live

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson made a surprise appearance on ‘Saturday Night Live’ as their dim-witted characters from the Zoolander sequel, and gave their unique insights into the pressing political issues of the day.

The pair have reprised their roles as Derek Zoolander (Stiller) and Hansel (Wilson) for the long-awaited follow-up to the much loved 2001 original, which comes out on February 12th, and they came in character to visit the ‘SNL’ segment Weekend Update with Colin Jost and Michael Che on Saturday (February 6th), getting huge cheers as they made their way onstage.

However, their commentary on the presidential nomination races didn’t extend to much more than the candidates’ fashion senses, as they were asked about Ted Cruz, Bernie Sanders, Hilary Clinton and, of course, Donald Trump.

Ronda Rousey Saturday Night Live NBC

Ronda Rousey has been showing off her newly found comedy skills in a new promotional video ahead of her ‘Saturday Night Live’ hosting debut this weekend, in which she fends off cast regular Beck Bennett’s romantic moves and throws him to the ground, for good measure.

The 28 year old former UFC bantamweight champion, who was reportedly the third most-searched name on Google in 2015, will be making her first hosting appearance on the weekly NBC show this weekend (January 23rd).

Will Ferrell George W Bush Donald Trump Saturday Night Live

Will Ferrell made his return to ‘Saturday Night Live’ yesterday evening (December 12th) as former US president George W. Bush. Bush made an appearance to give his thoughts on the current crop of Republican presidential candidates, concluding that what we really need is for him to come back for a third term.

Will FerrellWill Ferrell has returned to ‘SNL’, as George W. Bush.

“This is an important day, I’ve made a big decision, I’m entering the race for President of the United States of America,” Ferrell as Bush began. “The field of Republicans out there is so messed up, I figured it makes you miss me”.

Saturday Night Live Is Typical, Moderately Funny, In Anniversary Special

Saturday Night Live Bradley Cooper Betty White Tina Fey

Saturday Night Live celebrated its 40th anniversary this past week. Congratulations! The verdict? It was good enough. Like many other SNL episodes, this one was a 50/50 deal - some of the jokes fell flat, while others got just a passing laugh. There were zingers, but we probably won't be recycling jokes Christopher Walken's "only perscription is more cowbell" in a couple of years.

Happy 40th, Saturday Night Live!

Though re-visiting old sketches and characters was a welcome bit of nostalgia, of course.  Tina Fey's Sarah Palin, holding a flute and wondering when the talent portion of the show would begin was a highlight. In the end, more often than not, the show was funny.

After Boston Bombings Jokes, Chris Rock Supported By Fellow Comedians... And Nobody Else

Chris Rock Saturday Night Live

Chris Rock has never been one to shy away from shock humour and difficult topics, but his opening monologue on SNL last night might just make you squirm inside. Not only did the comedian address 9/11 (still a touchy subject,) but he also had a joke or two about... the Boston bombing. Yep, he went there.

Chris Rock
Chris Rock went there in an unforgettable SNL episode.

The initial bombs, which claimed the lives of three people and injured 268, exploded on April 15, 2013. Obviously, the impact is still fresh for many, so the comedian’s jokes were met with some backlash, to put it mildly.

It seems that 'Saturday Night Live' really is pulling out all the stops to celebrate their 40th anniversary season. On November 1st the legendary sketch show will see alumni Chris Rock return for the first time in 18 years, while Prince and his band 3rdEyeGirl will be the musical guests.

PrincePrince will perform on November 1st's 'SNL'

Legendary Unseen SNL Announcer, Don Pardo, Dies At 96

Saturday Night Live

Radio presenters have something of a reputation for being glamorous, old school workaholics, continuing to perform way past the age of retirement until they shake off this mortal coil as their own manner of quitting. On this note, legendary Don Pardo, the unseen announcer of Saturday Night Live, died on Monday (18th) evening, at the age of 96.

Miley Cyrus's SNL Performance - Watch It Here [Video]

Miley Cyrus Saturday Night Live

As expected, Miley Cyrus’s performance on SNL addressed many of her recent controversies. She talked about Hannah Montana, twerking, that VMAs performance and treated (or subjected, depending on your viewpoint) the audience to couple of musical performances.

“We’re not doing anything on Hannah Montana tonight but I can give you an update on what happened to her; she was murdered,” the 20-year-old before ruling out any twerking of any kind. “There will be no twerking tonight” she said. “I used to think it was cool but now that all the white people are doing it, it seems kind of lame” (Daily Mail)

Kanye West Stars In Awkward Trailer For SNL Season Finale [Video]

Kanye West Ben Affleck Fred Armisen Saturday Night Live

Kanye West will serve as the musical guest on this week's Saturday Night Live (airing May 18), with the rapper, guest host Ben Affleck and SNL faithful Fred Armisen promoting the episode by starring in a teaser trailer for the season finale that is, well, pretty awkward to be honest.

During the video the three stand facing the camera in SNL's famed studio as they go through three different takes of potential trailer material, with each one more cringe-inducing than the last. The trailer is obviously meant to be awkward for humours sake, but frankly the end result is really more embarrassing than it is funny. Hopefully though, the video won't be a reflection on the show, which should be a laugh-a-minute treat.

Bill Hader In Saturday Night Live Exit

Bill Hader Saturday Night Live

Saturday Night Live is enjoying or enduring – depending on which side you fall – a mass exodus. But it’s not losing a load of staff, rather the extremely versatile Bill Hader.

Hader spearheads the 'Weekend Update' as city correspondent, Stefon. He also acts up as James Carville, Al Pacino, Vincent Price and Julian Assange, and anyone else he’s told to impersonate. He is, by all accounts, a truly adaptable man. “It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,” Mr. Hader said in a recent interview. “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.’”

Lorne Michaels, executive producer of Saturday Night Live, said: “In terms of intelligence and talent, he was in that same tradition. He was so completely committed to the art of it and enough a student of it that there’s something strikingly original. He didn’t explode onto the air, but gradually he found his voice, and that became a huge thing.”

Meet Seth Meyers, The New Host Of 'The Late Show'

Saturday Night Live Seth Meyers

The merry-go-round is slowly starting to creak into motion. Jay Leno is deemed too old and not hip enough for the Tonight Show, so Jimmy Fallon gets the nod. Seth Meyers gets upgraded from Saturday Night Live head writer and news presenter to Late Show host.

Meyers, 39, will be the fourth comedian to host Late Night since it went on the air in 1982. It started way back when with David Letterman, followed by Conan O'Brien and Fallon. "Seth couldn't be in better company," SNL executive producer Lorne Michaels said. "We think Seth is one of the brightest, most insightful comedy writers and performers of his generation," NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt said in the official announcement. In an interview before taking the stage on Saturday’s edition of Saturday Night Live, Meyers said: “Working at ‘SNL’ requires 100 percent of your mental capacity — on easy weeks. And so I had not really spent a lot of time thinking about what I was going to do next. Obviously I can’t quit Lorne. So this seems like a pretty good deal that I have an opportunity to keep working with him.”

Michaels added: “The thing that’s staggering to me is that since 1982 there have been only three hosts, and Seth will be the fourth. And when you look at the company, it’s all pretty good company.” Both hosts are expected to fill their new boots next year in February, around the same time NBC begins its coverage of the winter Olympics in Russia.

Kristen Wiig Returning To SNL To Host – Joined By Ben Affleck

Kristen Wiig Ben Affleck Saturday Night Live

Returning from whence she came, well, her fame anyway, Kristen Wiig will be back on Saturday Night Live as host for one night only. And she’ll be joined by Ben Affleck for what promises to be a memorable evening at SNL studios.

Affleck will in fact become a member of the 5-time club - a feat recently achieved by Justin Timberlake – when he joins Wiig to close out the 38th season of this comedy juggernaut. She recently said that she has felt "lost" since leaving the show. "The show was seven years of my life and a six-day work week and you're constantly with your friends all day, all night," she explained. "You sort of live and breathe the show. Then, when it's over, you kind of feel a little lost … It was definitely an adjustment -- even just the hours and [no longer] being in New York," she said. Vampire Weekend are set to provide the soundtrack for proceedings.

His Best Idea Yet! Why Justin Bieber SHOULD Appear On 'Saturday Night Live'

Justin Bieber Saturday Night Live

Did anyone else's jaw drop when finding out that recently shamed pot sensation (ahem - I meant 'pop' sensation) Justin Bieber was set to appear on NBC's satire show 'Saturday Night Live' as guest host only days after his smoking pictures surfaced? We were pretty surprised but, we have to say, we can't think of anything better Justin could do to nurse his soiled reputation than to subject himself to a real ripping from the SNL crew. He's even giving them autonomy when it comes to jokes. Perhaps a little embarrassment will ensue, but we're sure he's not going to regret making the decision to appear.

Here's some of our reasons why Justin would definitely be doing the right thing by hosting the late night sketch show.

It's time to turn from tween to +teen

Media Stir After Samuel L Jackson's Slip-Up On SNL

Samuel L Jackson Saturday Night Live

Cover your ears everyone, Samuel L Jackson said a bad word.

Last night’s (December 15) episode of Saturday Night Live featured a lot of remarkable moments, with a number of interesting guests, Sir Paul McCartney fronting Nirvana once again and a children’s choir performing in honor of the Sandy Hook victims, but among all this, Jackson’s slip-up is still making news.

The 'incident' occurred at the end of Kenan Thompson’s What’s Up With That? sketch, during which Jackson made a cameo appearance, when the star said that Thompson’s DeAndre Cole habit of interrupting his guests before they could speak was “bull***t”. Before that, the actor had also reportedly used the ever offending f-word in the same sketch.

Children's Choir, Samuel L. Jackson And Paul McCartney Hit All The Right Notes For The Festive Show: Saturday Night Live Recap

Saturday Night Live Martin Short Samuel L Jackson Sir Paul McCartney Tom Hanks Tina Fey Kristen Wiig Alec Baldwin Jimmy Fallon

Last night's Saturday Night Live (Dec 15) could have gone very wrong indeed in lieu of recent events in America, but for a nation in mourning the one thing that America needed was a healthy dose of laughter and fortunately SNL brought the perfect amount on what could have been a very difficult night for the show.

With Fox pulling episodes of Family Guy and American Dad from the air in response to the shootings in Connecticut, it was thought that NBC might do the same with some of their more racy shows. However the writers at SNL showed us why they're so revered as they put on a show that was at first moving, before the hilarity began.

Rather than the usual comedic sketch to get things going, the show brought on the New York City Children's Chorus for an angelic rendition of 'Silent Night,' with particular emphasis the touching and poignant refrain, "Sleep in heavenly peace." For a show not regularly known for its delicate handling of sensitive subjects, they could hardly have started things off in a better way. Once the song was over though, the usual cry of "Live from New York, it's 'Saturday Night!'" rang from the children's mouths and the show began, with not a single other mention to the recent tragedy - and rightly so.

NBC Save And Upload Genius Guy Fieri Sketch From Saturday Night Life Dress Rehearsal

Saturday Night Live Guy Fieri Bobby Moynihan

For those of you still following the spat between the New York Times and celebrity chef Guy Fieri – and it seems that quite a lot of you are – there was much amusement to be had at the weekend as Saturday Night Live did their own take on the beef. However, comedy fans were almost denied the chance to see a sketch that focused on Fieri’s reaction to the now infamous bad review that his restaurant in New York received from the paper.

Thankfully, such is the world we live in, the segment appeared online after being cut from the dress rehearsal of the show itself. In it Bobby Moynihan put on a fine showing as Fieri, looking every inch the embittered chef and reprimanding Seth Myers at the Weekend Update desk by exclaiming "not in New York, Seth, it's in Times Square!"

Another high point came as Moynihan, with his pitch perfect Fieri voice, reacted “Oh, that’s not off the chain. Oh, that’s very much on the chain” to the bad review. It was a strong sketch, and thankfully NBC opted to keep and upload the whole thing on tape. As for the real Fieri? We’ve not heard anything more from him since his first outburst at the Times; he’s likely still licking his wounds.

Anne Hathaway Proves Her Comic Worth In SNL Appearance

Anne Hathaway Claire Danes Katie Holmes Saturday Night Live

Anne Hathaway starred as this weeks guest host of Saturday Night Live last night (Nov 10), proving herself to be a master of comic timing and delivery. Don't act like you weren't surprised.

The Dark Knight Rises star threw herself into every role she took on during the show, which also featured musical guest Rihanna, lampooning a few celebs on the way.

Her parody of Carrie Mathison, the neurotic CIA agent with bi-polar disorder from the hit show Homeland, was absolutely spot on. The character, played in real life by Claire Danes, is known for her penchant for going overboard with pinning evidence on cork boards and her tendency to sleep with witnesses, co-workers or whoever is around as well as mixing her medication with white wine - subjects that were thoroughly covered on the laugh-a-minute show.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Proves A Hit As SNL Host

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Seth Macfarlane Saturday Night Live Jason Sudeikis Mumford And Sons

Joseph Gordon-Levitt followed on from Seth Macfarlane's well-received appearance on the first episode of the new Saturday Night Live series with an equally impressive show of comic talent and timing.

The Dark Knight Rises star tickled funny bones across America with his two spoof beer commercial skits, in which he played the son of the 'Most Interesting Man in the World.' The two skits, spoofs of the popular Dos Equis adverts, featured Gordon-Levitt as the underachieving son promoting 'Tres Equis' and detailing his life as a man who is the polar opposite of his famous fictional father. Some of his 'achievements' included using fake names at Starbucks and dating a model (who in actual fact isn't a model but stared in commercial for her dad's car dealership) as well as being the proud owner five differently styled fedora hats. The character explained that Tres Equis is "one Equis more than my dad's beer, because he was never there for me. [It's] two parts Dos Equis, one part none of your business."

For the second skit, the deadbeat son is joined by his father (played by Jason Sudeikis) who berates his son for his disappointing exploits.
