Hail, Caesar! Trailer

Eddie Mannix is a fixer who works in Hollywood where he tames celebrities and keeps theirs, and movie studios', secrets out of the press - no matter how big the story. It's not the easiest job in the world, and it's certainly not always the most morally fulfilling, but it's about to get a whole lot harder when one studio, Capitol Pictures, presents him with a major problem the likes of which could be career destroying. They're working on a huge production epic entitled 'Hail, Caesar!' starring Hollywood sensation Baird Whitlock, but things go particularly awry when he is kidnapped and held for ransom by a mysterious group known only as The Future. They want $100,000, and after 24 hours, the studio aren't looking any more hopeful. Mannix enlists a feisty and beautiful female star to procure the money, while Whitlook finds himself in a most unusual situation.

The Jungle Book - First Look Trailer

Mowgli is a human boy known as a man-cub to his peers, among which are an array of jungle beasts. Left in the jungle as a baby, he was taken in by a family of wolves who raised him as their own. However, the older he grows, the more of a threat he becomes to a formidable villain named Shere Khan; a Bengal tiger with a deep fear of fire and loathing of man. Led by an impatient black panther named Bagheera, he is sent away from his jungle home to the safety of a nearby man village, though the journey becomes less straight-forward the further they stray. Mowgli befriends a fun-loving bear named Baloo, but finds Khan is not the only jungle menace as he is set upon by a gang of monkeys led by the orangutan King Louie, and hypnotised by a vicious snake named Kaa.

Marvel Star Scarlett Johansson Admits She "Never Read Comics" Growing Up

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson, one of the many stars of recent blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron, has revealed that she had no interest in superheroes or comic books as a child.

She’s had starring roles in three of the Marvel universe franchises – Iron Man, Captain America and Avengers – portraying Black Widow, but apparently “never read comics” when she was growing up. However, she also says that she learned to enjoy them through acting her part, and being able to put her own spin on the superhero character.

In a new interview with Stylist magazine, the 30 year old actress admitted that “superheroes weren't my thing growing up. I watched movies and read a lot but I never read comics.”

Age Of Meh: Scarlett Johansson Hosts SNL

Scarlett Johansson

After a two-week hiatus, SNL clearly needs to find its footing again – the sketches were only moderately good, and we may have laughed at about half of it. Thankfully, there was Scarlett Johansson to host and guest star and generally make the whole thing a little less awkward.

Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson's SNL episode: not as awkward as it could have been.

First of all, there was the monologue, which was... well, bearable. It takes a lot of charisma to make the line “I guess I’m officially a MILF... mother in lots of films” work, but the Avengers: Age of Ultron star has buckets of it anyway. Charisma, I mean.

'Avengers: Age Of Ultron' Puts Women In The Frame

Scarlett Johansson Elizabeth Olsen Joss Whedon

One of the complaints about the first 'Avengers' movie was the lack of character development for the women, so writer-director Joss Whedon changed this in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'.

Scarlett Johansson's character Natasha (aka Black Widow) has the most engaging story arc this time. "It's nice to have substantial material," says Johansson. "The character is finally ready to make active choices in her life, and it's not great timing!"

Avengers: Age Of Ultron Review

Good

Marvel fans will love the action mayhem in this Avengers sequel, but everyone else will vividly feel the fatigue that has descended over this franchise. After the bright spark of originality in last summer's Guardians of the Galaxy, we're back to the same tired formula involving terrific actors battling for screen time in between gratuitous, brutal action sequences that are so digitally animated that they're technically cartoons.

The film opens in the middle of the action as Captain America (Chris Evans) leads Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye (Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner) to recapture an Asgardian sceptre. Tony then discovers that the sceptre could be useful for Ultron, his artificial intelligence project to create a global peacekeeping force. But this goes badly wrong as Ultron (James Spader) springs to life and decides instead to obliterate humanity to make space for his population of smart machines. So the team races from America to Africa, Korea and Eastern Europe, facing off against Ultron and his super-powered twin cohorts Pietro and Wanda (Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen), who of course defect to the Avengers. They also get help from a human-computer entity called The Vision (Paul Bettany).

Yes, there are a lot of characters in this film, and writer-director Joss Whedon is exceptionally good at giving each of them something to do, both dramatically and in the thick of the action. These brief moments of humour and emotional depth are what make the movie enjoyable, giving the solid actors some meaty material to play with.

Scarlett Johansson Says John Travolta Is Not Creepy

Idina Menzel Gets Revenge On John Travolta For Last Year's Oscars Gaffe

Idina Menzel John Travolta Neil Patrick Harris Benedict Cumberbatch Scarlett Johansson

Idina Menzel got her revenge on John Travolta at this year’s Oscars, twelve months after he pronounced her name totally incorrectly at last year’s ceremony. Speaking to the audience before they presented the trophy for Best Original Song together, she said “please welcome to the stage my very dear friend Glom Gazingo.”

One year ago, 60 year old Travolta caused one of the #epicfail moments of the evening after he introduced the Frozen singer to the stage as “Adele Dazeem”. Taking to the podium this time, the actor embraced her and said “I deserve that, but you, my darling, my beautiful, my wickedly talented Idina Menzel.”

With the Oscars happening this Sunday Tinseltown is unsurprisingly even more awash than usual with A-list parties. But one event held precedence above them all this week, as designer Tom Ford presented his Autumn/Winter 2015 womenswear collection in Los Angeles on Friday.

A Tom Ford catwalk show is a rare occurrence, but one in L.A. is even more unlikely as the designer usually prefers to show during London fashion week. But this year the designer decided to present in his adopted home, ensuring the stars would be out in force on his FROW.

Scarlett Johansson Gets $10 Million For 'Ghost In The Shell'

Scarlett Johansson Dreamworks

Dreamworks executives will be high-fiving for the rest of the week after landing Scarlett Johansson for their forthcoming anime adaptation Ghost in the Shell. It was a huge year for Johansson with Lucy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier doing massive business and she's about to star in Age of Ultron and Civil War.

Scarlett JohanssonScarlett Johansson is returning to Asia for 'Ghost in the Shell'

However, perhaps her most interesting project to date is Ghost - based on the Japanese anime created by Masamune Shirow and serialized in 1989. It tells the story of Motoko Kusanagi, a member of the covert counter cyber-terrorist organisation which specializes in fighting technological crime in the 21st century in Japan. It's basically awesome. The series was previously adapted into a movie in 1995, which spawned a sequel in 2004.
