The upcoming remake just keeps on looking better…
Jon Favreau’s live action remake of Disney’s The Jungle Book might just have one of the most impressive cast lists we’ve ever seen! Filled with award winning talent such as diverse as veteran, Christopher Walken and rising star Lupita Nyong’o, as the film begins to take shape we just can’t help getting more and more excited. Here’s the list of famous names who have joined the cast so far, each of who will be giving a new voice to Kipling’s much loved characters.
Christopher Walken has joined the cast of The Jungle Book
Christopher Walken
As Favreau’s remake is based more on Disney’s 1967 feature than Rudyard Kipling's original book, jazzy orang-utan King Louie has been included. Louie’s voice will be provided by everyone’s favourite dancing Hollywood bad guy, Christopher Walken, who is the latest to join the movie’s all star line up. Walken is one of Hollywood’s most recognisable character actors, having won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for The Deer Hunter in 1978. He’s also famous for his roles in True Romance, Pulp Fiction and Sleepy Hollow, while his next project will be starring in a live version of Peter Pan as Captain Hook. As for his previous experience as a voice actor, in 1998 he voiced the character of Colonel Cutter in Antz.
Giancarlo Esposito
Best known as ‘Breaking Bad’s’ Gustavo "Gus" Fring, Giancarlo Esposito will be providing the voice of Akela, the lone wolf. Thanks to his ‘Breaking Bad’ role, Esposito is a Critics Choice award winner as well as a Primetime Emmy nominee. Most recently he’s been heard as the voice of Ra's al Ghu in the animated Son of Batman and Black Spider in Batman: Assault on Arkham.
Ben Kingsley
The legendary Ben Kingsley should need no introduction, during his career he’s won an Oscar, a Grammy, a BAFTA, two Golden Globes and a Screen Actors Guild award. Of course he’s best known for his role as Mohandas Gandhi in the 1982 film Gandhi, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor. Kingsley, who last year worked with Fraveau on Iron Man 3, will be voicing the black panther Bagheera.
Lupita has been cast as Raksha, the mother wolf
Lupita Nyong’o
Undoubtedly the hottest name in Hollywood at the moment, Lupita Nyong’o has been the actress to know ever since her Oscar wining performance in 12 Years A Slave. Nyong’o has signed on to voice Raksha, the mother wolf who raises Mowgli. The role is the second high profile part landed by the young actress since her Oscar win, she’ll also be appearing in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, directed by JJ Abrams.
