These days it seems as though fame is cemented when the world refers to you by your very own portmanteau. Over the past few years it’s become a way of referring to our favourite celebs, because in the texting generation don’t nobody gots time to say their full names. Think J-Lo, K-Stew, J-Law, ScarJo, the list goes on. Except ScarJo wants her name taken off the list, because, well, she’s apparently above all that. Apparently starring in a Marvel movie franchise qualifies you as a serious actress, Meryl Streep style. Or MezStree as we like to call her. And she freaking loves it.

Scarlett Johansson portmanteauScarlett Johansson thinks portmanteaus are 'tacky'

Scarlett Johansson, or ScarJo as we like to call her (and which is how she shall forever forth be referred) explained to Glamour magazine, “I associate that name with, like, pop stars. It sounds tacky. It’s lazy and flippant…There’s something insulting about it.”  Well, that's certainly very diplomatic and won't potentially insult anybody.  Nice work, ScarJo!  ScarJo ScarJo ScarJo.

We’d always assumed that there was something quite affectionate in a celebrity nickname and never that it was something that managed to irritate them. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been fondly dubbed ‘Brangelina’ by the world since they came out as a couple. They’re both pretty serious actors, while Angie is an ambassador for UNICEF, but you don’t hear her fussing over her ‘tacky’ nickname.

Similarly, Jennifer Lawrence is an Oscar winning actress and we highly doubt that she’s got any issues with being called ‘J-Law.’ We doubt that she’s got any issues with anything actually, apart from being able to attend an event and not fall over! But that’s precisely the reason that we love J-Law!

Love her or hate her, Kristen Stewart considers herself the most serious of actors, Twilight aside. In her time Kristen has been referred to as K-Stew and Robsten, when she was dating Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson. Kristen loves to moan about plenty of things, but we’ve never once heard her have a whinge about her nickname.  You go, K-Stew!

Jennifer Lopez JLOJennifer Lopez was the first celeb to have a portmanteau nickname

ScarJo may want to watch out in case she has ruffled a few Latina feathers. The first celeb to ever boast a high profile portmanteau was Jennifer Lopez AKA J-Lo. While these days Jennifer’s career is thriving and she’s a mom to a pair of beautiful twins, she’s still Jenny from the Block, so it’s probably wise not to mess with her. ScarJo, we recommend you send out your apologies ASAP!
