Everyone loves Scarlett Johansson, but Esquire readers seem to be especially fond of her.
If you watch any film with Scarlett Johansson, it is abundantly clear that the lady is actually a talented actress, although all that tends to get overshadowed by her constantly topping of any and every “Sexiest Woman Alive” list around. Case in point: this month’s edition of Esquire, which has named ScarJo as its reigning queen of sex appeal for the second year in a row.
No one can argue that she doesn't deserve the title.
Of course, it’s not like the actress minds the repeat honor. She joins the likes of Johnny Depp, George Clooney and Brad Pitt in the exclusive two-timers club of Esquire. It is so exclusive, in fact, that Johansson is the first woman to be voted “sexiest” twice. Of course, she had to comment somehow – and she received the title with grace, poise and general awesomness, as well as a bit of brutal honesty. "I'm the only woman to win twice right? You know, I gotta hustle," Johansson tells the magazine. "I'm a 28-year-old woman in the movie business, right? Pretty soon the roles you're offered all become mothers. Then they just sort of stop. I have to hedge against that with work-theater, producing; this thing with Esquire."
This is Johansson's second time winning the, um, honor.
Looking at the Esquire’s photoshoot, it is very difficult to imagine Ms Johansson as anyone’s mother, but the movie industry is tough – not only on actresses careers, but on their personal lives as well. However, we have to note that Johansson is doing well on both counts. After an unsuccessful marriage to Ryan Reynolds, the actress is now happily engaged to French adman Romain Dauriac. Career-wise, she is also pretty en pointe – the role of Black Widow in several films from The Avengers franchise means that she can now take any and all roles that strike her fancy – most recently – a gorgeous alien femme fatale in an adaptation of Michael Faber’s Under the Skin.
The industry might be tough, but ScarJo certainly knows how to play the game.
