Stars were out in London for premieres of two big biopics, Scarlett Johansson's new film is the talk of Venice, the Neighbors red-band trailer sparks buzz, and American Hustle looks unstoppable...
Naomi Watts was on the red carpet in London this week for the world premiere of Diana, about the final years in the life of the People's Princess. There were some touchy moments as she promoted the film in the media this week and had to get defensive against journalists' questions. Critics haven't been kind to the film, which opens in the UK later this month. Watch the Diana trailer here.
Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Bruhl, Olivia Wilde and director Ron Howard were also out in London this week for the world premiere of their new film Rush, an exhilarating biopic tracing the rivalry between 1970s Formula One champions James Hunt and Niki Lauda. The film opens next week in the UK, and in two weeks in America. Watch the trailer and view photos from the premiere here.
The week's other attention-grabbing new trailer was for Neighbors, starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne as a couple whose happy life is upended when a raucous fraternity moves in next door, led by Zac Efron, Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. The red band trailer is pretty hilarious and hopefully doesn't include all the best gags in the movie, which opens next spring. Check out the Red Band trailer here.
Meanwhile at the Venice Film Festival, stunned the crowd in a sexy black gown for the premiere of her new thriller Under the Skin, in which she plays a murderous alien seducing men in Scotland. The film also released an astonishing new trailer that makes it the festival season's must-see movie. You can browse through the 'Under the Skin' Premiere photo gallery from Venice Italy here. We also got a glimpse of Robert Redford's new film All Is Lost in a harrowing new trailer that promises a gruelling one-man show as Redford's solo sailor struggles to survive when his boat begins to sink in the middle of the ocean. The film is directed by J.C. Chandor (Margin Call) and opens in November. If you are not of a nervous disposition have a look at the trailer here.
And finally, we had our first trailer for David O. Russell's new film American Hustle, about a 1970s con artist forced to work with an FBI agent to spy on the mob. Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner lead the heavyweight cast. The film looks seriously outrageous and is out in December, perfectly timed for awards attention. Take a look at the American Hustle trailer here.
