Scott Storch has issued a warning to any celebrity or well-known high earner to watch their back when they're out on the streets after he and a friend were held at gunpoint and robbed of more than $100,000 worth of jewellery in New York City. The 39-year-old hip hop producer claims that he and his 32-year-old companion were robbed at around 7am, moments after exiting his SUV in Times Square.

Police insiders have since revealed that Storch was robbed of around $100,000 worth of jewellery as well as around $5,000 in cash, which one of the victims was carrying in a briefcase. The music mogul, who has worked with such stars as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Beyonce and 50 Cent, was in the Big Apple for Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards and, according to TMZ, he was robbed shortly after leaving the New York Palace Hotel on Madison Avenue, where he was staying during his time in NYC.

Sources say that the crooks ordered Storch and his friend to hand over his jewelry and briefcase whilst holding a handgun on them and told the driver to remove the keys from the ignition of the SUV, which he did. After this, the assailants fled in a black SUV awaiting them nearby. Storch says that after armed men had fled the scene he ran after them to see where they were heading, but claims they managed to get away without him seeing the license plate or which direction they were heading.. Despite the aggravated nature of the robbery, no-one was harmed during the fiasco.

Police are still looking for any potential leads in the case and are investigating the crime to the best of their ability. More word on this story as it develops.
