Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland has fired back at his now apparently former band mates by claiming that they’d never even told him he was fired, the lead singer claiming he found out about it the same way everyone else did – through the press.

In a statement reported by E! Online, Weiland commented "I learned of my supposed 'termination' from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press.” He continued "Not sure how I can be 'terminated' from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that's something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday."

No more Scott Weiland in Stone Temple Pilots

Yesterday morning (February 27, 2013), the band’s publicist had issued a statement that had read "Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland.” It’s not the first time that Weiland has left the band; after a series of personal issues and turbulence with other band members, Weiland left the band in 2002 and set up Velvet Revolver with Guns N’ Roses stars Slash and Duff McKagan among others. However he got back with the STP in 2008, their self-titled debut album subsequently returning at the top of the Billboard charts in 2010. However with rumors circulating, some of them by Weiland, that he was open to getting Velvet Revolver back together, the future of STP became less clear again.
