Rapper Sean Combs, aka P Diddy, has been arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon at the University of California in Los Angeles. Combs, 45, was booked after an incident involving a kettlebell and his son's football coach.

The rapper was released late on Monday night after posting bail and his representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. However, the celebrity website TMZ.com cited unidentified sources who said Combs was involved in an argument with a football tea coach at the campus's athletic facility. His son, Justin Combs, is on the college football team on a scholarship.

"This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time," Jim Mora, UCLA's football coach, said in a statement.

Insiders say the drama began during a workout session when strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi was "riding Justin badly" and told him not to return until the end of the summer. Diddy went to the campus to speak with Alosi believing he had an issue with Justin.

Sources say Alosi would not see Diddy and staff asked him to leave, but the rapper went to Alosi's office where the coach threatened to call security before going after him with his hands. According to TMZ.com, that's when Diddy grabbed a kettlebell and held it up in a defensive position.

Combs, also known as Puff Daddy, is a rapper, actor and founder of Bad Boy Records. As of 2014, his net worth is over $60 million.
