Selena Gomez will not be a victim to bullying.

The 21 year-old singer has a reputation of being an angel who cannot put a foot wrong, but she was recently pushed over the edge by an offensive comment on her Instagram.

The original nasty remark has since been deleted along with the user's account, but it reportedly stated that Gomez should "burn in hell" and get cancer.

The former Disney star doesn't usually address internet haters, but on Saturday (July 12th) she shared a lengthy message on one of the user's photos before taking a screenshot of the exchange, which she then posted on Instagram for all her 11 million followers to see.

"The comment you left about cancer was absurd. How distasteful of a young woman," Gomez wrote. "I have gone through that battle with fans and family members. You can dislike someone but to wish something that could happen to you or your family is uncalled for sweetheart."

"You won't be winning 'anyone's' heart that way," she continued. "Trust me. Educate yourself a tad more. God bless love. Be an amazing woman. You're beautiful."

The screenshot was posted along with a caption that read, "Honestly, I don't speak up much because it's simply *always* taken out of context. But I don't take bullying well. I have seen too much to not say anything."

This was a bold move by Gomez, especially since she is under the public microscope due to her on again, off again relationship with Justin Bieber reportedly coming to an end once again.

Is this a sign that the former teen star is now becoming a mature young adult?
