Selena Gomez is insecure about her speaking voice.

The 'Good For You' hitmaker has admitted she was always embarrassed by the tone of her voice as a young girl but says she sees it as an ''asset'' now.

Writing on Twitter, she explained: ''I was always insecure with my speaking voice because it's so low. I never felt like it was feminine-sounding.

''I didn't know it would be such an asset to who I am now, thought. It adds a cool, personal quality. It's exciting.''

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old beauty recently revealed she hopes to use her own self-confidence issues to help encourage young girls to be positive about their own image.

She shared: ''There are so many moments that I feel insecure and I feel all of these things but I hate them. If anything I hate that young girls look at all these Instagram pictures and all these news reports and I just feel like they think they have to look like that or they think that's what happiness is.

''I feel like that's such a big thing for me when they say, 'Oh I'm so unhappy and I feel like everybody at school hates me,' or whatever it is, I can't help just... I want to shake everyone and be like, 'You're insane. You're incredible. You're beautiful. You're strong. You're unique.'''
