A little over a month since she suddenly quit her lengthy world tour in order to recover in her battle with lupus, Selena Gomez has been spotted in public, taking time for selfies with admiring fans in a Tennessee restaurant.

The 24 year old singer and actress, who quit all her social media outlets back in late August when she cancelled her Revival tour, was seen having lunch with a friend in the Texas Roadhouse restaurant on Sunday afternoon (October 9th).

Wearing a baseball cap to keep her profile down, Gomez dutifully posed for a number of selfies and pics with people who wanted them.

“She couldn’t have been more gracious to everyone and to the fans and was more than happy to take pictures with whoever,” said somebody who was at the restaurant. “She enjoyed herself and had a late lunch.”

With more than a month left on this year’s world tour, Gomez announced to her fans back on August 30th that she would be taking an indefinite period of time out of the spotlight, so that she could try to recuperate in her battle with lupus, a chronic auto-immune condition.

“Around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” she explained in a statement back then. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”
