Meyers will replace Jimmy Fallon as the host of Late Night.
This week’s Saturday Night Live was hosted by Melissa McCarthy and featured some great sketches with her, but it was really Seth Meyers who stole the show. And rightfully so – it was Meyers’ last episode at the Weekend Update desk. Joined by former SNL co-stars Bill Hader (as Stefon) and Amy Poehler, Meyers was given a proper Weekend Update sendoff.
Seth Meyers said "so long" to SNL and moved on to greener pastures (and a premium time slot.)
Meyers is moving on to the next step of his career – replacing Jimmy Fallon as the host of Late Night – but that doesn’t mean there weren’t some emotional goodbyes. "This is the job I always wanted, and I had the best time," Meyers said in lieu of a witty closing line at the end of his last Weekend Update.
As for the rest of the show, McCarthy’s best skit had to have been “Women’s Group”. It’s exactly what it sounds like – a bunch of women get together to talk over white wine, McCarthy announces her plans to violently avenge her father's death.
Melissa McCarthy's hosting turn was also most excellent.
Ok, so maybe it isn’t exactly what it sounds like. McCarthy even has a vision board of her planned attack – slightly disturbing, but hilarious none the less. Fresh off a victory at the Grammys, Imagine Dragons rounded out the cast as this week’s musical guest. The band performed their hit Demons.
