Multi-platinum, 2X Grammy Award-winning, 8X Latin Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and global recording artist Shakira's self-titled 10th album debuts at #2 on Billboard's Top 200 Chart today marking the highest album debut and chart rank of her career and her first album release for RCA/Sony Latin Iberia. The album also held #1 position on the iTunes Chart release week in 69 countries, including the U.S. SHAKIRA. was released as a deluxe edition CD exclusively at Target which includes 3 exclusive bonus tracks, and also as a twelve track standard album at digital and physical retailers.

The video for Shakira's new single 'Empire' premiered on VEVO on album release day and has already racked up over 13 million views. She premiered her live performance of "Empire" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on album release day and performed Empire Wednesday morning, March 26th on the Today Show Concert Series outside at Rockefeller Plaza. Shakira continued her global takeover during album release week in Berlin at the 2014 Echo Awards performing the album's debut single "Can't Remember To Forget You," as well performing "Empire" in Paris on Le Grand Journal and in London on The Voice UK. The video for "Can't Remember to Forget You" featuring Rihanna has already enjoyed a record-breaking 228 million views plus.

On her new self-titled album, Shakira worked with a who's who list of collaborators including John Hill (Santigold, Jay Z, The Vaccines), Kid Harpoon (Florence + The Machine, Calvin Harris), Greg Kurstin (P!nk, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry), Steve Mac (Kelly Clarkson, One Direction), Mark Bright (Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts), Busbee (P!nk, Lady Antebellum, Katy Perry), and The Messengers (Pitbull, Chris Brown, Christina Aguilera).

Over the course of her career, Colombian singer-songwriter and Grammy winner Shakira has sold over 60 million records worldwide and has won numerous awards including two Grammys, eight Latin Grammys, four World Music Awards, three American Music Awards and five Billboard Music Awards, to name a few. She is the only artist from South America to have a number one song in the US, and has had four of the 20 top-selling hits of the last decade. At the age of 18, she founded the Pies Descalzos (Barefoot) Foundation which currently provides education and nutrition to over six thousand impoverished children in Colombia and is expanding its work to other countries, including newly launched projects in Haiti and South Africa.  In October 2011, Shakira was named a member of President Obama's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.
