'Queer As Folk' star Sharon Gless arrives outside the Ed Mirvish Theatre flanked by two members of security on horses for the Toronto PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Ally Awards where she will be honoured.
Whilst meekly thanking any staff around the event, she approaches the theatre doors where PFLAG President Irene Miller is waiting to greet her. Although Gless is not actually a lesbian herself, she has been an icon for the global homosexual community for portraying strong female characters in her movies and TV shows such as 80s detective series 'Cagney & Lacey'.
