Producer Shawn Levy Teases 'Stranger Things' Season 3 As Being "On Another Level"

Shawn Levy

'Stranger Things' is without a doubt one of the most exciting, intriguing and successful original shows to come from Netflix, but apparently, the best is yet to be seen. From creators Ross and Matt Duffer, the series has told the story of a group of residents living in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. Whilst they at first seem to be a fairly normal group, their connection to a universe known as the Upside Down quite literally turns their world around.

Shawn Levy Says 'Stranger Things' Season 4 Is "Definitely Happening"

Shawn Levy

'Stranger Things' producer and director Shawn Levy has promised that the Netflix original sci-fi series, from creators Matt and Ross Duffer, will "definitely" be making a comeback for a fourth season. The series tells the unique story of a group of youngsters who are forced to fight against otherworldly beings in their small town of Hawkins, Indiana. Their journey is often a tragic and incredibly challenging one, but viewers also find humour and joy in their adventures. The overriding narrative shows just how strong we can be when we all pull together, but that doesn't mean the battle is over for the characters.

There's been something of a silence following the end of season 2 of the Netflix show. It seems Eleven, Lucas, Mike, Will and Dustin had finally managed to defeat the demogorgons with the help of some new faces, with the Mind Flayer having been forced back into the Upside Down. So what's next for these kids?

Shawn Levy Rules Out Turning 'Stranger Things' Into A Franchise

Shawn Levy

Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, with Shawn Levy serving as executive producer, 'Stranger Things' upon its Netflix debut went on to become one of the most successful pieces of original programming the streaming service had ever seen. Set in the 80s and exploring a world of sci-fi like none we'd ever experienced before, all whilst taking influence from some of the greats of the genre, the show would quickly work its way into the hearts of viewers, thanks to its compelling narrative and roster of brilliant actors.

Following an immensely popular first season, the show was recommissioned for a second, which was released to critical acclaim just last year. Now, a third season is set for 2019, and a few details are beginning to slip out about what we may be able to expect. Earlier this week for example, we got some new character details.

Naughty Dog's Creative Director Gives Shawn Levy's 'Uncharted' Movie Stamp Of Approval

Shawn Levy

When it comes to the world of movies and their take on video games, the track record isn't a great one. We've seen many terrible video game adaptations come and go, but this year and those in the future seem to be doing their all to break that curse once and for all. 'Tomb Raider' drops in March, with 'Rampage' also coming a little later this year, and it was just revealed that there will be a new 'Super Mario' film coming our way at some point in the not too distant future.

One of the properties gamers have been most excited about seeing on the big screen however is Naughty Dog's 'Uncharted'. The four games put hero Nathan Drake front-and-centre, and that will be the case in the film adaptation. Rather than taking what's already gone down on PlayStation consoles and doing it all over again in live-action however, director Shawn Levy is going back to Drake's origins, with young actor Tom Holland in the role. Bryan Cranston is also rumoured to be joining the cast, but with production still not underway, nothing solid has been laid out in regards to his involvement.

'Stranger Things' Producer Shawn Levy Teases "New" Evil In Season 3

Shawn Levy

'Stranger Things' is without a doubt one of the most popular Netflix original shows of all time. Bringing the sci-fi genre back in time to the 80s and delivering a unique and compelling storyline throughout its two seasons to-date, the series has shown that there is still a lot of life in original narratives. All this whilst combining the story on screen with nostalgic references to the 80s.

Creators Ross and Matt Duffer have done a brilliant job with 'Stranger Things', and whilst they'll be returning for at least a third season on Netflix, not much has been revealed about what we should expect. We know the series' leads such as David Harbour, Winona Ryder and Millie Bobby Brown will all be making their return, but when it comes to actual narrative, everything's been kept closely guarded and under wraps.

Shawn Levy Discusses Upcoming 'Uncharted' Movie; Compares To 'Indiana Jones'

Shawn Levy

Tomorrow, a brand new game will enter the 'Uncharted' franchise with the arrival of 'The Lost Legacy' on PlayStation 4, allowing players to go on a new journey with series favourites Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross. As one of the most successful video game properties in the world, it was only a matter of time before a film was picked up, based on the characters that have been established in that universe. That happened in 2009, but up until the past 12 months or so, there hasn't been much in the way of details.

Now, we have some details on exactly who will be working on that movie. Tom Holland will be taking the lead role of a young Nathan Drake, with Joe Carnahan working on the screenplay and Shawn Levy serving as director. We know that this is going to be an origins story for Drake, but now Levy is letting fans in on how he'll see the film progressing.

Could Will Be The Villain In 'Stranger Things' Season 2?

Shawn Levy

There's no denying who the primary antagonist was in the first season of 'Stranger Things', with the Upside Down's demonic Demogorgon feasting on anyone who was snatched away to the alternate universe. Now though with the Demogorgon defeated and young Will Byers back in the small town of Hawkins, could the residents who live there be in for a more peaceful existence in the show's second season? We highly doubt it...

What we saw in the show's first season finale was Will back home with his family and friends, but he harboured a dark force within him that had made its way from the Upside Down to his present day. Vomiting the darkness into his sink, Will is said to have kick-started a catalyst of evil that will fall upon Hawkins in season 2.

Why Him? Review

Good

Writer-director John Hamburg continues to recycle the formula that made his first hit Meet the Parents so wildly popular, as this comedy pits two very different men against each other. And while it's never terribly clever, at least James Franco and Bryan Cranston are imaginatively cast as opposite forces. So audiences in search of escapism will find plenty to chuckle at as things spiral ludicrously out of control.

Cranston plays Ned, who travels with his wife Barb (the fabulous Megan Mullally) and teen son Scotty (Griffin Gluck) to Silicon Valley to spend the holidays with older daughter Steph (Zooey Deutch) and meet her boyfriend Laird (Franco). What they don't know is that Laird is an internet millionaire with absolutely no filter in how he interacts with people. Almost everything he says is inappropriate, and yet it's so honest that it's disarming. Still, Ned and Barb aren't too happy that their daughter is so serious about dating this guy. And with the help of his sidekick Gustav (Keegan-Michael Key), Laird goes completely over-the-top to impress them.

Much of the humour is of the gross-out variety, with the main running gag centring on an actual toilet. But at least the jokes aren't about embarrassment this time; they're about the clash between people who prefer to keep their true feelings bottled up inside and someone who can't help but be real, despite the fact that he shocks everyone he meets. This makes each person a little more complex than expected, and gives the actors some texture to work with, even though the script never bothers to even crack the surface. And while Cranston and Franco have more obvious comedy set-pieces to contend with, the film is stolen by Mullally and Key in roles that are more subtly hilarious and broadly amusing, respectively.

Owen Wilson Felt Comfortable With Funny Co-Stars On 'Night At The Museum 3'

Owen Wilson Ben Stiller Steve Coogan Rebel Wilson Robin Williams Ricky Gervais Shawn Levy

It's probably true when it comes to most family comedies that being involved is less stressful than a more serious drama, but Owen Wilson feels that doesn't ring more true than on the set of 'Night Of The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb'.

Owen Wilson [R] says Steve Coogan [L] and Ben Stiller make him laugh

There may be a lot of chaos what with wild animals and cavemen running loose in London, but 'Night At The Museum' is a set that star Owen Wilson, who plays miniature cowboy Jedediah in the franchise, feels right at home on - mainly because of the stellar cast he has surrounding him. 'Working with Ben Stiller... we've worked together on a lot of things and for me it's just very familiar and very comfortable', he explains. 'And then Steve Coogan and Ben Stiller, that's who my scenes are usually always with... those guys just made me laugh.'
