Shia LaBeouf's Disorderly Conduct Charges Will Be Dropped If He Avoids Arrest In Near Future

Shia LaBeouf

Shia LaBeouf will not face charges of disorderly conduct if he manages to avoid arrest for the next six months. LaBeouf was in court in Manhattan on Friday (20th March) to face charges stemming from his arrest last year. The 28-year-old actor was arrested in New York City last June for disturbing a performance of Cabaret at the Studio 52 theatre. LaBeouf was ordered to undergo an alcohol rehabilitation course after pleading guilty to the charges against him in September. His attorney claims he has successfully completed the course, a factor which led to the judge's decision to drop charges if he 'stays out of trouble'.

Shia LaBeouf In Most Awkward Interview Ever?

Shia LaBeouf

We’ve all seen our fair share of awkward celebrity interviews, but few could be as extreme as actor / performance artist Shia LaBeouf’s recent conversation with a journalist. In a sit-down with Dazed and Confused magazine’s Aimee Cliff, the interviewer and interviewee simply sat down and stared at each other wordlessly for just over an hour. Hmmm…

Shia LaBeouf

The full video can be seen on Dazed’s website, and is a split screen of the pair looking blankly at each other, occasionally smiling and breaking into nervous laughter. It was recorded with go-pro cameras attached to each other's heads.

The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman Review

Very Good

Shia LaBeouf is well-cast in this freewheeling combination of comedy, romance and action. He plays a scruffy guy with no plans and nothing to lose, lost in a strange culture while falling in love with the wrong woman. It's not a particularly original premise, and much of what happens feels wildly improbable, but the characters and situations are so entertaining that we can't help but hold on for the ride.

It opens in Chicago, where Charlie (LaBeouf) watches helplessly as his mother (Melissa Leo) dies in hospital, asking her what he should do next. Then there she is appearing to him, telling him to visit Bucharest. "That's weirdly specific," he replies, but he follows her advice, and on the flight over has another encounter with a dead person. This one asks him to look up his daughter Gabi (Evan Rachel Wood) and give her a message. Of course, Charlie is instantly smitten, but tries to ignore the fact that Gabi's psychopathic husband Nigel (Mads Mikkelsen) looks easily capable of murder. As does the mobster club owner Darko (Til Schweiger) Charlie has a run in with while out on the town with his youth hostel roommates, two chucklehead Brits (Rupert Grint and James Buckley).

As the title suggests, Charlie feels like death is inevitable for him, especially now that he seems to have caught whatever that kid from The Sixth Sense had. LaBeouf gives Charlie just the right mix of hapless loser and quick-thinking resourcefulness, and his chemistry with Wood is tetchy and fun to watch. Meanwhile, the scene-stealing supporting stars Mikkelsen, Schweiger, Grint and Buckley add a terrific mixture of comedy silliness and dark peril. This seems to be director Fredrik Bond's main goal here: to blend genres from grim drama to sweet romance to goofy slapstick to Taken-style action violence.

Brad Pitt And Co Head Back To WWII With 'Fury'

Brad Pitt David Ayer Shia LaBeouf Logan Lerman Michael Pena Jon Bernthal Angelina Jolie

Now storming through cinemas worldwide after claiming the US box office crown last weekend, the World War II tank-crew thriller 'Fury' is an old-school war movie that attempts to update the genre with a more internalised approach to its characters.

Brad Pitt has deep respect for the war veterans who inspired 'Fury'

"It's about a family and their love for each other," says writer-director David Ayer of the five-man crew played by Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Pena and Jon Bernthal. "We wanted to explore the moral and psychological hazards of war, and how they affect this family of brothers."

Fury Review

Good

From Training Day to this year's Sabotage, filmmaker David Ayer writes and directs movies about the cathartic power of releasing your inner warrior. And this World War II action thriller is more of the same, with a "war is hell" message stirred in for good measure. The problem is that there's nothing particularly new here. It's a beautifully shot and edited film, with terrific performances and a remarkable sense of scale, but there have been so many movies made about this conflict that it's difficult to find something original to connect with.

It's near the end of the war, April 1945, as Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) leads the crew of a tank named Fury: Bible (Shia LaBeouf) is a true believer, Gordo (Michael Pena) is a relaxed joker, and Coon-Ass (Jon Bernthal) is a hot-headed thug. Having just lost their driver, they're joined by rookie Norman (Logan Lerman), who doesn't yet have a wartime nickname because he never thought he'd end up driving a tank. Together, they head further into Germany, not as liberators but as invaders and occupiers, working with other tank crews to take a strategic town before heading further into the hot zone, where a series of particularly brutal Nazi assaults ensue.

The point of the film seems to be that war erodes a person's humanity over time, and the sharpest aspect is the way each character emerges at some point on the continuum. Obviously, Norman is the naive newbie who still has a strong conscience, while at the other extreme Coon-Ass is virtually a monster. Wardaddy is somewhere in between, a tough guy who still has a sense of perspective, such as when he reasons that Norman should be allowed to have some private time with a young German girl (Alicia von Rittberg) simply because they're "young and alive". All of the actors are excellent, adding telling details to their characters that deepen every scene. And the camaraderie between the five-man crew is remarkably authentic, as is their ease inside the cramped quarters of the tank, which makes submarine movies look spacious by comparison.

Shia LaBeouf Alan Cumming

Transformers star Shia LaBeouf has pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly conduct filed earlier this year when he interrupted a theatre performance and then resisted removal from the venue. Under the terms of the plea he will avoid jail time or probation, but will have to attend all court appointments and complete a three month treatment programme.

According to the BBC, LaBeouf was arrested after "smoking, shouting at actors and using abusive language" whilst attempts were made to remove him from the theatre audience. The incident occurred during a performance of hit musical Cabaret in New York, starring Michelle Williams and Alan Cumming. However Scott Gorenstein, the rep for Liza Minnelli, made light of the siutation when he sent a DVD of the 1972 film adaptation of the musical to LaBeouf, telling Us Weekly "I figured he may want to find out how it ends."
