Shia LaBeouf wishes he was more like George Clooney when it comes to public interaction - because he fears his honesty makes people think he's unpleasant and ungrateful.
The Transformers star has plenty of regretful moments, including a car accident which left him with a smashed-up hand, a late-night loitering drama at a pharmacy and a bar brawl in Sherman Oaks, California earlier this year (11) - and admits he'd rather deal with his problems in a diplomatic Clooney fashion and avoid the publicity backlash.
He tells Details magazine, "I would like to be George Clooney - diplomatic. I just don’t have the wherewithal yet or the inner serenity. My bulls**t meter is tuned very sensitive.
"The minute it (drama) starts kicking up, I get back to truth... 'I don’t want to take a picture!' Am I an a**hole for being honest? Or am I an a**hole for being dishonest, smiling in your picture and I f**king hate being there? Which one is worse? These are the questions I ask myself that George Clooney doesn’t ask."
