Given Shia LaBeouf’s recent antics, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the man is a bit... err… eccentric. He’s also very self aware though, just take a look at his outfit for the “Nymphomaniac Volume I” premiere at the 64th Berlinale International Film Festival.

Even if he isn't famous, LaBeouf can always rely on his fashion choices to make a stir.

LaBeouf’s look included a sharp black tux, white shirt and a brown paper bag. Say what you will about LaBeouf, but he obviously knows how to make a statement. In this case, he made it in black marker on the paper bag on his head. The message read: “I am not famous anymore.” – a statement he has been tweeting repeatedly since January 13, as USA Today notes.

Well, that's one way to get back into the spotlight.

But this wasn’t even LaBeouf’s most bizarre appearance of the day. Earlier, he stormed out of a press conference promoting the film, after answering just one question. After being asked about his many sex scenes in the Lars Von Trier film, he responded, "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much." The line is a quote from French soccer legend Eric Cantona, who is featured in Ken Loach's Looking for Eric. Naturally, it left everyone a bit confused, including LaBeouf’s co-stars Christian Slater, Stacy Martin, Stellan Skarsgard, Uma Thurman and producer Louise Vesth, who looked briefly stunned, before applauding LaBeouf’s exit. Slater tried to ease the tension with a slightly awkward quip: "Obviously, the script is packed with a lot of sardines ... one sardine after another." Subtle.

After LaBeouf's exit, his colleagues were left holding the bag (figuratively speaking).

Meanwhile, the rest of us are left wondering. Is this authentic or is Shia LaBeouf pulling a publicity stunt of Lady Gaga proportions?
