After witness reports that Shia LaBeouf had checked himself into rehab, the actor’s rep has set the record straight. In a statement, released Tuesday, the rep made a slight correction to the initial rumor. I turns out the actor has not checked himself into a rehab facility, although he is seeking help for his substance abuse problem.

The rumours of Shia's rehab residence have been greatly exagerrated.

“Contrary to previous erroneous reports, Shia LaBeouf has not checked into a rehabilitation facility but he is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction,” the rep said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

“He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and he has taken the first of many necessary steps towards recovery. There will be no further comments made at this time,” the statement concluded.

Well, that clears things up a bit. However, the rep did not specify what kind of treatment LaBeouf was undergoing, or if it would mean a hiatus from acting. He recently wrapped filming on Fury, a war drama starring Brad Pitt.

The actor is now looking to change his erratic ways.

On Monday, X-17 Online ran a story with the headline “Shia LaBeouf Checks In To Rehab.” In the story, the site reported they “followed the actor” from his home to a facility where other celebrities have received treatment. The actor was said to be holding an Alcoholics Anonymous Big Blue Book.
