Father Sebastião Rodrigues (Andrew Garfield) and Father Francisco Garrpe (Adam Driver) are Portuguese Jesuit priests who set out on a dangerous mission to Japan in a bid to find their mentor Father Cristóvão Ferreira (Liam Neeson) who has been missing for sometime.
