Sienna Miller has been praised by the artist Jonathan Yeo, for posing naked whilst she was pregnant.

The painting, which Yeo created just a few weeks before the actress gave birth to baby Marlowe will be shown at his exhibition in Berlin, entitled (I’ve Got You) Under My Skin, Marie Claire reports.

Writing about his subject matter, Yeo said “It is a tribute to her courage and self-confidence that she agreed to sit for this. I can think of many figures whose public currency in part revolves around their appearance who would prefer to hide themselves away for nine months.” In the exhibition catalogue, he also said “This portrait of Sienna was painted a few weeks before the birth of her baby Marlowe and is part of a series of pictures of her which I plan to exhibit next year.”

The portrait will sit alongside Yeo’s series of works focused on the “contemporary obsession” of plastic surgery. Yeo spent a year and a half observing plastic surgery patients. Yeo hoped that the image of a naked, pregnant Sienna would provide a thought-provoking contrast to the falsehood of plastic surgery: “I wanted an image that epitomised the human body in its most naturally beautiful state to make the sharpest possible contrast with my other paintings in this exhibition, which document patients undergoing cosmetic surgery in a bid to help them conform to societal notions of beauty.”
