British actor Simon Pegg described the experience of premiering the new Star Trek film in London's West End as a "geek dream".
The Hot Fuzz actor, who plays Scotty in JJ Abrams' reboot of the beloved sci-fi series, was joined by co-stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Eric Bana for a special blue carpet premiere at the Empire cinema in Leicester Square.
Wearing a kilt in homage to his Scottish character in the intergalactic thriller, renowned sci-fi fan Pegg said the premiere was "very special".
"It's the Empire Leicester Square," he added. "I saw films here as a child... it's a geek dream come true."
The Run, Fatboy, Run star admitted he and his fellow cast members were aware of the burden of reprising characters made famous by William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and other stars of the original series, but said fans had been overwhelmingly supportive.
He went on: "I love the Star Trek fan base. They are world leaders in positivity."
Co-star Karl Urban, who plays Dr Leonard 'Bones' McCoy in the movie, described the film as "phenomenal".
"This is a film for everybody, not just long-term Trek fans," he added.
Directed by Lost creator JJ Abrams, Star Trek tells of the early days of Captain James T Kirk and his fellow crew members on the USS Enterprise as they join forces to tackle the evil Romulan Nero (Eric Bana).
Star Trek is released on May 8th.
