Fact: Director Ron Howard's authorised documentary film about the early years of legendary British rockers The Beatles is to be released in select U.S. cinemas on 16 September (16). The movie, titled The Beatles: Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years, made with the full cooperation of surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, and the Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison, the widows of deceased members John Lennon and George Harrison, will also be made available on the internet streaming service Hulu on 17 September (16).

Fact: Both weekends of the inaugural Desert Trip festival in California have reportedly sold out in less than six hours. Fans flocked to score tickets to see headliners Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, The Who, the Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, and Neil Young in what is expected to be a record-breaking box office gross. The festival will run over two weekends in October (16) on the site of the Coachella and Stagecoach festivals. The box office gross is estimated to top $150 million (GBP104 million).

Fact: Sir Paul McCartney scored an early Christmas gift on Sunday (20Dec15) after catching one of the free T-shirts thrown out to the crowd while attending a Brooklyn Nets game in New York City. The British rock legend was courtside with his wife Nancy at the Barclays Center for the basketball clash against the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he managed to snag a Nets freebie, two years after previously trying and failing to do the same in 2013. However, the former Beatles icon's presence didn't bring the home team much luck - the Nets lost the game 85-100.
