Sketches Slow Start Single

The debut single from the Leeds lads Sketches is out now and I suggest the first thing you do is not have a big bowl of Sugar Puffs when you get up tomorrow, the first thing you should do is go and find where you can buy this single.. Then buy it, and buy one for your Mum too.

'Slow Start' does indeed start off slow, a nice staccato guitar intro albeit for about ten seconds, then in come the drums with the nifty bass pedal work and the track kicks off. Some heavily reverb soaked second guitar coupled with the melodious vocals give the band a huge swirling sound. The chorus is radio friendly and will surely give these boys and this single some airplay.

The B-side 'Fevered Foals' allows a platform for the singer to show of his talents. Similarly, the boys start off slow to allow them to build the track in a big wall of sound again with a chorus that instantly sticks in your brain. This is definitely a track that leaves you wanting a couple more minutes, and it's a B-side!

If you are into mellow laidback rock, or a fan of bands such as Radiohead, Interpol or the Editors then you will love these guys, I do, but only in a musical way might I add.

Rating 9/10
