The group's frontman Billy Corgan announced the reinstatement of the rocker for an upcoming tour with Marilyn Manson.

He took to Twitter.com to tell fans, "In case you haven't heard the news, Jimmy Chamberlin will be rejoining us on drums for @marilynmanson tour. Expect sonic fireworks."

Corgan adds of the reunion, "You can't just grab somebody and say, 'Play drums on this Smashing Pumpkins song.' Jimmy's drum parts are so incredibly technical and nuanced that it's a very rare class of people that can step in and play."

Chamberlin says, "He asked if there was any way I'd consider coming back for the tour. It's a great opportunity not only to celebrate the music, but to celebrate the friendship and the legacy."

The rockers begin their U.S. tour in Concord, California next month (Jul15) and it concludes in Cincinnati, Ohio in August (15).
