The Colombian-born actress recently revealed she earned top marks on her U.S. naturalization exam.
Sofia Vergara can finally call the United States of America home. The Colombian-born actress has revealed she earned a top score while taking the U.S. naturalization exam to earn her citizenship, and she couldn't be happier.
Vergara is now a U.S. citizen
While appearing on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' this past Wednesday (Dec 3rd), Vergara, who is the highest-paid TV actress with $37 million earned last year, told the host that becoming a U.S. citizen was a "very emotional moment" for her.
"I got all the questions perfect," she said to Kimmel. "Yes, all of them...I got all the questions!"

Before continuing with the celebrations, Vergara took the viewers through the process of the examination. "They make you (jump through hoops) because they have to make sure that you deserve to be a part of the country," she said. "The most interesting thing for me was, they give you like a hundred questions that you have to learn, and then they give you a quiz, like a test."
Although the 42-year-old actress has resided in the U.S. for many years now, she first moved to Miami in her early 20's, Vergara came out of the test feeling very patriotic. "You swear that you're going to fight for the United States," she added. "I'm ready!!
"They make you do the swear of the thing," she explained of the oath. "It was easy because the swearing of the thing, you don't have to memorize or anything. You just repeat! I did it really fast so he didn't know if I was doing it right."
On a serious note, the 'Modern Family' star said that becoming a citizen was something very important to her because of her celebrated acting career in America. "It took me a lot of time to get my residence even though I was working here for a long time," she said. "I couldn't be illegal and be showing my face on national TV. I mean, I would have to be low-key."
