Former Sonic Youth star Thurston Moore has reunited with his former bandmate Steve Shelley to create a new group.

Moore recruited his drummer pal, as well as My Bloody Valentine bassist Debbie Googe and British guitarist James Sedwards to form The Thurston Moore Band, and they are set to play their first gig in Amsterdam, Holland on 19 August (14).

In addition to The Thurston Moore Band's various tour dates in Europe and the U.S., Moore is also gearing up for the release of a his new solo album titled The Best Day, which is slated to hit retailers later this year (14).

The venture marks Moore and Shelley's first onstage reunion since Sonic Youth went on an indefinite hiatus in 2011, following the frontman's split from his wife and bandmate Kim Gordon.
