“The Internet is really funny – I love it, but I hate it at the same time,” Feig told the magazine. “The first wave when you make an announcement like that is overwhelmingly positive. Everyone’s so happy and you’re like, ‘This is great.’ Then comes the second wave and you’re like, Oh my God. Some of the most vile, misogynistic shit I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Did Ryan Gosling Turn Things Around For "Lost River" At SXSW?

Ryan Gosling South by Southwest

Last year, Ryan Gosling completed his directorial debut Lost River and, just like most of the things Ryan Gosling does, it's a little bit odd and a little bit confusing. The film is screening at SXSW this weekend, a second chance at a premiere, after the not-so-warm welcome it received at Cannes

The film is also set for a theatrical and VOD release next month, so the freak-friendly atmosphere at South by Southwest Austin should be the perfect space to gather some more favourable reviews. Unfortunately for Gosling, even among the hipster, indie, counter-cultural crowd, his reputation apparently precedes him.

In her perennial quest to push boundaries that often don’t need pushing, Lady GaGa let ‘vomit artist’, Millie Brown, do her thing all over her at SXSW festival on March 13. The singer foresaw the backlash, and now says she’s not surprised by people’s reactions.

"I guess we weren't completely surprised. Millie and I know that not everybody's going to love that performance," the 27-year-old singer told "Today" anchor Savannah Guthrie yesterday morning (March 21). "But we both really believe in artistic expression and strong identities," she continued.

Lady Gaga Goes Back To Basics - Lingerie And Fake Bodily Fluids - At SXSW

Lady GaGa South by Southwest

Lady GaGa brought some serious 2008 nostalgia to her SXSW gig on Thursday night. Her show included highlights like fake vomit, a roasting spit and some good old-fashioned mechanical bull riding. It’s not cliché, it’s classic. If you’re wondering how it all ties together, imagine Gaga being wheeled out on a huge roasting spit, from which she sang her first song, Aura. Apparently this time it wasn’t some thinly veiled metaphor about celebrity culture, just a nod to Texas’ infamous BBQ culture.

Lady Gaga
Gaga was back to classic form for her show at the Austin-based festival.

Clad in black lingerie and fishnets, Gaga addressed the crowd, saying: "I've been having such a good time all week. I haven't showered. I've been drinking all week. And eating."

Coldplay Debut New Album Material At Lauded SXSW Comeback Show

Coldplay South by Southwest Chris Martin London Grammar Imagine Dragons

Last night, Coldplay took to the stage at Texas' South by Southwest Festival where they debuted new material from forthcoming album Ghost Stories alongside well-worn favourites. Support acts London Grammar and Imagine Dragons were big enough names for the crowd to pick out songs from each that they recognised but the former had the air of "evidently nervous musicians still working out how to feel comfortable commanding an audience," according to The Guardian's Tim Jonze.

Whereas Imagine Dragons "threw the kitchen sink at the audience in an attempt to make that vital emotional connection." Luckily for Coldplay, such effects come almost too naturally to the British rockers who seem to soundtrack every wedding first dance, graduation party, or Olympic triumph.

'Then you play a quick set with no soundcheck and you strip it back down and go to your next one. I think that every musician should have to do that at some point. Because how else are you going to earn your stripes?'
