Fact: Bosses behind the Star Trek franchise have given fans the chance to guzzle their own space beer with the launch of the Klingon Warnog. The brew, from tastemakers at Indiana's Tin Man Brewing, is described as a Danish-style Dunkel with "rye malt and traditional clove character, creating a very rich and unique flavor". The drink is set to hit select retailers in the U.S. and Canada later this year (14).

The 81 year old, who played James T. Kirk, the Tv show's captain of a fictional spaceship by the same name, will look on as the nuclear-powered vessel is celebrated during its inactivation ceremony at the Naval Station Norfolk.

Fact: Sci-fi masterminds Steven Spielberg and J.J. ABRAMS are teaming up for the Star Trek director's next movie, SUPER 8. The filmmakers have been working on the project for the past year and details have largely been kept under wraps, although it is said to be an homage to Abrams' favourite childhood movies, including some of Spielberg's. Production will begin on Super 8 this autumn (10).
