Stephen Amell Was Determined To Have Fun With Ninja Turtles 2

Stephen Amell Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Amell says that the film is in many ways Casey's origin story, a police officer whose clean-cut life changes when he meets the sewer-dwelling heroes. Amell had never read the comic books. "I'm a fan principally from the movies, actually," he says "The three movies that came out timed up nicely with me in elementary schools. And I actually remember going to three successive birthday parties where we would go see the Turtles movie and then we would just go home and eat cheese pizza until everyone was sick to their stomach! So when I booked the job, my wife, who was also a huge fan and had a turtles-themed birthday party, actually remembered Casey Jones much more than I did. I think she was more excited about this role than I was!"

But Amell threw himself into the role. "I just wanted to have fun. I wanted to bring an edge of humour, and not take myself too seriously," he says, laughing off comparisons with his action training for Arrow. "I wouldn't say this is a new skill set, but I would say that Casey's certainly a different type of fighter than I am on television. He has different skills. I wanted to make sure that, especially the first time we see Casey Jones, that he wasn't necessarily a super-polished fighter. He's more flying by the seat of his pants, which is a departure from what I'm used to."

The Los Angeles Kings capitalized on the New York Rangers' hangover from an energy-sapping seven games series with Chicago by scoring a 3-2 win over their east-coast rivals in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The final few minutes were frantic and the Kings were unusually scrappy, though managed to hold on in a game that Rangers veteran Brad Richards knew was a missed opportunity.

Arrow is roughly based on the fictional superhero, The Green Lantern, a character who is very popular at the Comic-Con. Appearing at last year's Comic Con, few people recognised Stephen. He even went so far as to ask for pictures with fans, speaking on the Arrow Panel, he said  "I took a picture with a guy dressed as an old-school Green Arrow and he said, 'Why do you want to take this picture?' And I said 'because I play Green Arrow on TV'".

50 Shades Of Grey Movies Gets A Release Date: The Story So Far

Sam Taylor-Wood Mila Kunis Emma Watson Alexis Bledel Ian Somerhalder Stephen Amell Robert Pattinson Krysten Ritter

50 Shades Of Grey just became the biggest movie event of summer 2014 that isn't about super heroes, with Universal announcing their plans to have the film out by August 1 2014. The film will be quite the change from Guardians of the Galaxy, the Amazing Spider-Man 2 and X Men: Days of Future Past, but with a director, script and now a release date all lined up, the much-discussed movie adaption looks like it might finally happen after all. Still no work on who will be in it though, but that's just details.

So we know when the movie should be out, and providing director Sam Taylor-Johnson can keep things on track as soon as we get our Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, then things are looking good. Taylor-Johnson was chosen to take on directing duties earlier this month and her announcement behind the camera has obviously given the producers confidence enough to push forward and commit to a date for when we'll see it on screen. Relatively inexperienced as a director, Taylor-Johnson could prove a competent pick nonetheless having achieved praise for her only work so far; the John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy.
